Heylo all.
I just got access (YEA!)
Ok, now that that is finished.
I live in Lubbock Texas, and I have been playing Jyhad/VTES for about a year
now, I have 5 playable decks, and I have 'embraced' a small group of about 15
players to play with me, and the circle is ever growing.
I do have some questions and comments for the gurus of this area...
1. Rostreck: my humble opinion is this: save yourself some trouble and just
replace the phrase 'that vampire' with 'your vampire'.
2. I play with a political rape deck (that's what I call it anyways). Are
there any rulings whatsoever on the potential of this deck? Thusfar, the only
thing that would limit this deck is the 4CL (which we don't play by), and the
1CL on Praxis Seizures of any one city.
3. Madness Network: If your predator takes his action immediately after you
take your minion actions, can you play reaction cards?
4. DOes anyone have ANY advice on how to stop/hinder a S&B deck. My roommate
plays with one constantly and I have a VERY difficult time defeating this deck.
In fact, in a 2-3 player game it is almost impossible to defeat it. Thusfar, I
have only found ONE good way to slow it down, ARchon Investigation. Any
comments/ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, currently my 5 decks are:
1. Vote Rape Deck
2. Tons o' Guns (Brujah&Toreador Bruiser deck)
3. Weenies 'nuff said
4. Ravnos & Nosferatu Deck (no name)
5. Malkavian/Tremere Deck (no name yet)
Thanx for listening to my ramblin, I'm sure I'll be posting again soon!!!

Official Rule - vampire dealing aggravated damage is sent to torpor.

No rulings limiting the make-up of a deck exist. Convocation rules specify
a two-card limit on PAs which can burn other Methuselah's pool.

No. You may not play reaction cards on your own turn - but neither can the
Madness player play action modifiers (since it is not his turn).

Out of the scope of this reply, sorry :-)

- there is no 4cl for Jyhad inherent in the rules. Many people have
imported one from Magic, but it is not really necessary . (And welcome to
the _other_ great debate of this Newsgroup!)
- There is no 'real' 1cl on praxis seizures, only an 'effective' limit of
one. You can have 13 Praxis:Chicago in your deck if you want, but of
course, you will end up contesting with yourself a lot.
The voting rules are broken, as they allow repeated pushing (throwing
down Political cards for additional votes). There are two main schools
of thought on how to limit this:
1) Duellist Convocation Rules, which pout a 2cl on all of the damaging
votes (and a few others).
2) Allow only limited pushing: the person calling the vote can play one
additional PA for one additional vote, and no more. Everyone else is also
thusly so limited. (This house-rule, and others like it, appear in a
compendium of house rules posted to this group by L. Scott Johnson on the
1st and 16th of every month.)
: 3. Madness Network: If your predator takes his action immediately after you: take your minion actions, can you play reaction cards?
Officially, no. You may only play reaction cards when it is not your
turn. (Point out to him that he can only play action cards when it _is_
his turn, however...) Many people house-rule differently.
: 4. DOes anyone have ANY advice on how to stop/hinder a S&B deck. My roommate: plays with one constantly and I have a VERY difficult time defeating this deck.

If you are not playing 4cl and you have a reasonable amount of cards,
create a celerity/potence Brujah deck with enough bum's rush to ensure
that any vampire with Sup. Dominate goes to torpor the turn it is brought
out. There are more Malkavian hosers in Dark Sovereigns you might like.
Under 4cl, Malkavian S&B is the penultimate strategy, if you want to
win. Under No Limits, there are numerous ways to beat it. (I leave it to
others to suggest more...)

Actually in a 2 or 3 player game that and vote decks are
at thier strongest. In a larger game you have people gang
up on a powerful deck since it will be coming after them too.
Telepathic Counters should help, in a 2 player game, but your
bleed redirects won't. Telepathic misdirection at least
helps with intercept.
Try combat and gain blood strategies.
Hospitality, hunting grounds, feeding razor with blood dolls
Investment and ascenence.
Asendance, short term and protracted all work the same
but have different tradeoffs.
In the order given they are highest blood per master action
taken but you need more cards for the same amount of blood
given.
Also try Pre such as Social charm legal manip and enchant kindred.
A vote deck will do well also.
And try a stealth bleed deck against him. Maybe he'll get
tired of it.
If you like Nos then go for a large crypt with Kindred
Inteligence and effective management and betrayers.
at 2 blood a pop that will get him to diversify.

Rush combat is probably your best option.
Redirect his bleeds, might as well get him to some work
for you. :)

How does this work?
I have been planning on one (also gangrel) but not enough
cards yet from DS.

In the meantime, the Duelists Convocation's V:tES Tournament Rules can be
found on their Web Page:
URL:http://www.wizards.com/DCI/VTES_Tourn.html
Also, note that these are restrictions only on DCI-sanctioned tournaments.
WotC itself imposes no limits on deck construction for V:tES decks, other than
the 40-card minimum and N*10+40 maximum.

Well, that's a common thread of the VTES restricted list, but not strictly
true. When in doubt, check the VTES tournament rules themselves (and I
will be posting an update of those when I get a chance.)

well, I revamped this one to make it a Ravnos Gangrel deck, and it is VERY
successful, as a combat monger. If you can get the raven spies, and a few
other intercept cards out there (cat's guidance for those sup ani people), the
deck gets REALLY mean :) Also, sprinkle a few Protean cards in there and LOTS
of people can use the claws of the dead/wolf claws :) Overall, it works pretty
well.

do it, it's well worth it. :)

Just read through the tournament rules again, couldn't see any 4 card limit,
also read through my errata, saw no limit, (other than banned/restricted cards)
so am assuming that there is NO card limit in a tournament and want
confirmation
