No (by the above errata, and by the fact that the blood spent on Thoughts Betrayed is spent before combat). -- L. This card have caused problems again within our group. We need advice. It reads: "this vamp gains an amount of blood equal to the amount LOST by the opposing vampire during this round of combat". Ok... Lets say that i prevent all my damage but that i used a card with a blood cost. For example, i used Toughts betrayed and prevented all damage, but still, my vampire have lost 2 blood during this round. Can the other play Taste of vitae and gain these "lost" blood??? Ooh, they made a ruling that makes sense for once :) It's about time. --------- Paul Schaaf sch...@u.washington.edu On Thu, 25 Jul 1996, The Corrupter wrote: > On Thu, 25 Jul 1996, Paul Schaaf wrote: > > > My play group has a house rules for this that you can only taste blood > > lost through damage. My play group has a house rules for this that you can only taste blood lost through damage. So blood lost through cards that have a cost don't count, and you can't taste stolen blood because you've already tasted it for heaven's sake. --------- Paul Schaaf sch...@u.washington.edu [ quoted text not captured ]

How about playing taste of vitae after someone stole blood from YOU? Example - I do 1 hand dmg, opponent plays minor theft of vitae (hence they stay even) - could I get one blood if I played the taste? Or did they lose any blood (strikes are resolved at the same time, but didn't they lose one - then gain it back?)?? I don't know whether I would gain one or not!! Dave -- David Hageseth

The damage resolution is subdivided into two parts: Apply strikes Heal damage/Prevent destruction The Theft of Vitae and your damage are applied at the same time: you lose a blood and he gains a blood and takes a point of damage. He's now up a blood. /Then/ he burns a blood to heal the point of damage. Now he's back where he started. Gaining one by Theft and losing one to damage is not the same as "no effect" - he still took (and healed) damage. If there was a Dawn operation in effect, the damage you did would still put him into torpor, even if he offset the blood loss by stealing some of yours. -- L.
