succesful action.
Sp: As above, but usable even if the action is blocked.
A friend of mine believes that the superior version prevents vampires from
entering combat, as it says IMMEDIATELY. I disagree and believe that the
vampire would untap after combat. Which interpretation is correct?

It does untap the vampire before the combat begins, but this has no
effect on the combat itself. Tapped vampires can enter combat just fine, and
the action was still blocked. I can't think of a situation where it would
matter if you untapped before or after combat, but one might come up. Tom
made a ruling similar to this regarding cat's guidance (I think that's the
card which untaps you after you block, might have the wrong name.) So I think
I'm right on this one. :)

If an action is blocked the combat will ensue; Freak Drive will not prevent
this. It doesn't strike me as all that clear whether it's intended to be
used before or after the combat, so I'll put it on the list.

Well, by the same token as the Cat's Guidance ruling, it should be
before the combat. It too says 'immediately' after the action. So
it too would have to take place before the combat.
But then, this is coming from a guy who thinks that the Cat's Guidance
rule should be extended to after the combat, so maybe both of them
should go on the list... :-0
