Is there a list on the cards that remain in play after being ousted as to wich cards don't? Several times in my playgroup the questions arise as to what cards actually remain in play after the player that played the cards was ousted. Cards such as: Pulled fangs Fleshcraft Bonecraft Derange Millicent Smith, Puritan Vampire Hunter The Coven The Rack Powerbase: Montreal Fame Recently the question arose with Pulled Fangs, but I've had the same problem come up with all the cards named above.

(And any cards on removed cards, of course). The rest remain as they are. Without explicit card text to the contrary: Minion cards are controlled by the controller of the minion they are on. Conviction cards are controlled by the controller of the minion they are on. Master cards are controlled by the Methuselah who played them. Event cards are controlled by the Methuselah who played them. > Several times in my playgroup the questions arise as to what cards > actually remain in play after the player that played the cards was > ousted. > > Cards such as: > Pulled fangs > Fleshcraft > Bonecraft > Derange These stay until the minion leaves. > Millicent Smith, Puritan Vampire Hunter > The Coven > The Rack > Powerbase: Montreal These are controlled by the Methuselah who has them (card text overriding the default for master cards). Stay even if the owner is ousted. > Fame No overriding card text. Removed when the controller (the Meth who played it) is ousted.

If a Metuselah is ousted, all cards she controls leave play. The rulebook describes who, by default, controls cards in play: [1.6.2.] Master Cards A master card in play is, by default, controlled by the Methuselah who played it, even if it is played on a card controlled by another Methuselah. [1.6.3.] Minion Cards By default, a minion card in play is controlled by the controller of the minion it is on. If a minion card is just in play and not on another controlled card, then it is, by default, controlled by the Methuselah who played it. In some cases, card text overrides these defaults. That's interesting. Are "Conviction Cards" not considered to be a subgroup of "Minion Cards", then? I guess I had assumed the two new NoR card types would be considered minion cards but I hadn't thought to check. Fred

[ quoted text not captured ] Minion cards are played in the minion phase. Conviction cards are "untap cards" in that respect, like Events are "discard cards". http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/index.php?line=Checklist_NightsOfReckoning (Rules section, bullet #2). Powers are another type of minion card, though (as evidenced by the square card-type icon; the shape of all minion card-type icons). See NoR Rule #3.

[ quoted text not captured ] >From the NoR rules page: "Conviction is a new card type. It is played in the untap phase, so it is an "untap" card, not a master or minion or discard (event) card." "Power is a new minion card type, only playable by imbued." Witness1 -ItE

I feel like I may have asked this recently, but now I can't find such a post, if I did. And perhaps you are answering it above. By "And any cards on removed cards", do you mean that cards controlled by non-ousted Methuselahs, which were placed on cards controlled by the ousted Methuselah before he or she was ousted, are also removed from the game (rather than burned) when that Methuselah is ousted? E.g. Alice has put Pentex Subversion on Bernard's Cailean. Bernard is ousted. Does the Pentex Subversion go to Alice's ash heap immediately, or is it removed from the game and not returned to Alice until the game is completed? thanks! Josh whispers from the dead pile

[ quoted text not captured ] 9.1 "If you are ousted, all the cards you control are removed from the game. Any of your opponents' cards you control are returned to them at the end of the game. Any of your cards controlled by other Methuselahs remain in play as normal." 1.1.2 "When a card is burned or removed from the game, any counters or other cards on it are burned." Since Bernard doesn't control Pentex Subversion, it's not removed from the game by 9.1. It should instead be burned by 1.1.2. Witness1 -ite

[ quoted text not captured ] Another Card I've got questions about is Camarilla Exemplary? If it's played on another Methuselah's vamp does the card go if the calliing Meth is ousted but the effect remain, does the card and the effect burn or does the card and the effect remain? I would say the card burns but the effect remains given the for the remainder of the game text. I know it's corner case but we had Arika call it on her Cross table buddy's Anson last week to screw over the other 2 of us who were working together to oust our respective prey's and knock down all the Ventrue and Torreadore votes. Soon after the Ventrue got ousted. We ruled that the effect remains. Camarilla Exemplary Political Action Political Card - Worth 1 Vote. Called by any Camarilla vampire at +1 stealth. Choose a Camarilla vampire. Successful referendum means that for the remainder of the game, any vampire attempting to block that vampire burns 1 blood.

[ quoted text not captured ] Ahhh that makes sense. We use the card as a prompt, as I assume many would but technically it's not in play.

It should instead be burned by 1.1.2. Oooh, good eye. I didn't spot that rather clear rule in 1.1.2 when flipping through the rulebook. Thanks! Josh in with the out-of-game crowd

For what it is worth, we had to check this recently, and the rules card about Conviction cards specifically says that Conviction cards are not Minion cards. -Peter
