Spiridonas' ability

The card text says: "Once each turn, Spiridonas can burn X+2 blood to get +X bleed." My question is, when is this declared? Does the Methuselah have to say that Spiridonas is attempting to bleed for 8, or can he pay the blood after the block has been declined? In other words, is bleeding for +X the action, or is it modifying the bleed action? Brian

[ quoted text not captured ] It's modifying that minion's (Spiridonas's) bleed ability (almost the same a modifying the bleed action, but his ability won't be passed along if some other vampire uses Mask of a Thousand Faces). You may burn the blood anytime, just like Conditioning (before or after any or all block attempts). -- L. Still, remember that it is not an action modifier, per se. If that's too confusing, don't feel bad--it makes my head hurt just thinking about it. --Shawn F. Does that mean that Spiridonas can burn the blood, then Aggripina can take ove the action with Mask1K and still get the boosted bleed? -- L. Blech. LSJ, you make my head hurt. :) I guess, now looking back on what I wrote, I need to reanalyze whether Spiridonas' ability is an "action modifier". If it is in the textual sense an "action modifier", then yes. Interesting question--gimme a few hours on it. -- [ quoted text not captured ]

Mask takes over the action from where it left off, so after Spiridonas uses his ability, the bleed is enhanced for Aggripina. [ quoted text not captured ]

I can too Mask Normal in after Spiridonas burns all but one of his blood, then have Spiridonas Hospitality himself. It's official.) Here's my question. Can I Heidelberg all the blood off my other vampires as Spiridonas burns all his blood, then put the blood on Spiridonas to burn more? Like this-I have Mariel(5 blood on her), Didi (3 blood on her), and Spiridonas, about to burn all his blood (9 blood) to fry my prey (12 pool). Spiridonas is through. As he burns his blood, I tap Heidelberg to pour some more blood from Mariel and Didi into him. If the burn is continuous, it is possible.

Mask takes over the action from where it left off, so : after Spiridonas uses his ability, the bleed is enhanced for Aggripina. Come ON, Shawn. Does Spirandonas's Pulse apply then too, even though he's no longer doing the bleed? I thought cards like pulse and the vampire card text and other permenant "+x bleed" affected that vampire's base value and didn't count as action modifiers. If an action is masked after Bassillia starts it, does the new vampire get aggrivated hand damage??? But Spiridonas doesn't have a permanent +x bleed. He has a kooky ability that lets him increase his bleed on a particular action. Sounds to me like it should work just like an action modifier, and I think that's the reasoning behind Shawn's ruling. James -- * James Hamblin * * Cornell University * * je...@cornell.edu *

(something like that). It's not "Spirdonas can burn X+2 blood to bleed your prey at +X. If an Inner Circle bleeds, and a minion masks, does the new bleeder get the +2 bleed? It's the same thing. dan

The bleed is NOT permanent, ergo it should be treated much like the action modifier. [ quoted text not captured ]

Action Modifiers carry over (Conditioning). 2. Inherent Modifiers do not carry over (Ozmo). 3. Card-on-minion effects do not transfer (Laptop). 4. Effects applied to the minion do not transfer (Backways). 5. Inherent actions cannot be Masked (Muddles's (D) attack). 6. A minion cannot Mask an action he is prohibited from taking (Talbot hunt). Spiridonas' ability should fall under 2. or 4. (Probably 4, IMHO). Are the six points I listed still official positions? [ quoted text not captured ]

One more question to clear up this action modifier thing: Most bleed-enhancing action modifiers state that you "cannot play another action modifier to increase this bleed". Does this include Spir's ability or not (since it is an action modifier, but not "played" in the same way as most)? -- L.
