Ethan Locke, as a Kiasyd, does his action thing to steal a master discipline card off of someone else, and he says that he'll be using the grandest trick for the duration of that combat. So... What's up? Can he take the action? Can he gain the discipline card (cause birthday cards say "Put this card on a vampire"). What happens if allies wind up with discipline cards? Vague question, I know, but I want to see if anyone knows a way to do it (just for shits and giggles). ~SV

It seems that it would work, except for an old RTR ruling to handle the ruling that allowed formerly "Kindred Only" retainers to be employed by allies. That addendum ruling will serve nicely here: The following are "clearly" vampire-only: effects that burn or gain blood, effects that grant or remove disciplines (or clan or sect status, for that matter) effects that alter capacity, and/or effects that grant or remove titles or votes. [RTR 05-JAN-1999] So the action to move a Discipline card to the acting minion is an action that requires a vampire (and thus cannot be Grandest Tricked). > What happens if allies wind up with discipline cards? (that is, does this count as an effect that will alter one's capacity) BTW I'm glad to have generated a 'good question'. I thought it would have worked, but it WAS bugging me for some reason... ~SV

It doesn't alter capacity, but even if it did, the Herald is Lobbying "as a vampire", and capaciy-altering is not outside the purview of "as a vampire". [ quoted text not captured ]
