Greetings :) One of the players in my coterie is insisting that as crusher's inbuilt ability to dodge isn't stated as a strike, that he can still a strike for the round of combat in which he uses that dodge. (leaving aside any additional strikes for the round). Now although I am pretty sure that dodge is always a strike, I am unable to prove this point to him in any way. Is there any rule I can actually point to that will convince him that dodge is indeed always a strike? Or is he in fact actually correct that crusher's dodge is not a strike? (Have tried checking the errata, rulings and clarifications and latest rules but maybe i am overlooking something...) Thanks for any help you can give me on this issue :) Simidh: V:EKN Prince Of Adelaide __ __ ,-~_~, __ ,-._______.-.___.----------' '--~~ ~~ (___\`, (__ . _ _ . __/ )_ ',_.-------._.---.__________ __ ) __)( / ) )( (_/ / ) `--' ~~--~~,(~_~/,' -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Email: sim...@vampire.tne.net.au ~---' URL: vampire.tne.net.au If the above picture looks a jumble, you probably didn't read this email in a proportional font >;-<=

Also look at the Jyhad version of Read Intentions which does something similar. The argument has been had many times before, because of the inadequate wording, unfortunately. :( If Crusher uses his dodge, that is his strike for that Choose Strike step. -- James Coupe

Well, other than the line, "A dodge is a strike, even though it is solely defensive," [6.4.5] I'm not sure what else you could be looking for :) In any case, the only description of dodging in the rules is dodging as a strike. Maybe Crusher can dodge in some way that isn't a strike, but there aren't any rules that say what that does or how to play it. So it doesn't do much good to interpret it that way. -davey!
