Immortal Grapple question - Can it be played by someone who has played a Thrown Gate? LSJ?

Judah is in combat with Christopher Haughton and tries to go long with Thrown Gate. Chris gets back close (Claws of the Dead), then Immortal Grapples. Can Judah then Grapple to gain a press? Or just cycle? Or is he precluded from grappling because he has already chosen a non-hand strike? (I did check for rulings on this, and seeing none... oddly enough....)

Or just cycle? Yes, Judah can play Immortal Grapple if he ends up at close range. He's still committed to his Gate strike; since he can't do it, he doesn't strike, as normal.
