Reg Driscoll + Laptop question

If Reg Driscoll already has a Laptop Computer, can he equip with another one to move it to a different minion (who doesn't have a Laptop)? Laptop text: "The minion with this equipment gets +1 bleed. A minion may have only 1 Laptop Computer." Reg Driscoll text: "If Reg performs a successful equip action, you may move the equipment to any ready minion you control." I suspect the answer is "no, because Reg can't try to equip with a Laptop that he can't have (since he already has one)." But if you're only not allowed to *have* a second Laptop (and could equip with a second one normally, which would then burn due to not being legal on the minion), he might be able to get around it. thanks, Josh silly questions for silly decks

Also he cannot attempt to equip something that he cannot have so the second option wouldn't come in anyway. Sorry. He'll just have to recruit Tasha/Simmons and not keep his first laptop.
