Lucian's ability as a deterrent

One odd thing that happened in Sunday's Portsmouth tourney was that i got rushed far less than i expected to be by Michael's !Salubri, and was strangely left alone by Matt when he was my predator. i just figured out why - Lucian's ability to steal equipment [coupled to manoeuvers] creates a strong disincentive to actions by minions with tasty pieces of kit such as the Crimson Sentinel, Meat hook, .44 Magnum or Sargon fragment ... leather jacket too, for that matter. It's ironic that he has got passively better as a result of the FN/Bloodlines boost to equipment!

You never know when someone might have a weapon you wouldn't mind having yourself.

From the rulings: Lucian Lucian cannot attempt to steal a piece of equipment that he is prohibited from having (a second vehicle, Laptop, or Leather Jacket, for example). [LSJ 19980206] Does this mean that Beast cannot play Fast Hands AT ALL? [ quoted text not captured ]

Beast, Leatherface of Detroit [SAB] - vampire (NosA) * Beast can play a Zip Gun, since that is not an equip action. [LSJ 970519] * Most Equipment and Retainers cannot be moved to beast (via Diablerie, Heidelburg Castle, etc.) because he couldn't get these items generally (due to the restriction on his card text). Exceptions to this are the equipment and retainers he can get through normal means: Zip Gun and Charnas the Imp. [LSJ 980115] And no, it's not andrew under a mask of 10k faces ;p reyda

[ quoted text not captured ] Out of date. Check the current rulings list. [LSJ 980115] These refer to the old text, and an old rule about not being able to move something to someone who couldn't get it normally (this provided many headaches). In that instance, Beast could get Zip Gun normally (since it wasn't an equip action) and could get Charnas (since he would generally not take the action to get Charnas) - so they could be moved to him. The current text is more specific - he cannot have equipment (so he cannot take equip actions anyway); this includes Zip Gun. He cannot have retainers (so he cannot employ them); this includes Charnas (a potential minor plus point for this usual restriction). [ quoted text not captured ]
