(Not sure). I do know that majesty negates first strikes. Combat ends is all powerful, and unbeatable. Period. Larrx...

Rulebook states: (p. 36) "Combat Ends: This is considered a strike. The strike ends combat immediately (before any damage is dealt OR ANY STRIKE'S EFFECT TAKES PLACE). Note that Combat Ends is not affected by Dodge and even cancels strikes WITH FIRST STRIKE. -prophet ============================================================================== The above opinions are my own, as I wouldn't condescend to speak for anyone else. -Ryan Gentry, RA/Gamer/Student...*cough* ==============================================================================

Strike: End Combat resolves first, so no to (2). If no one struck to End Combat, then Strike: Dodge resolves, so yes to (1). Then, first strikes are resolved. Then all other strikes are resolved. >thanks >scy...@alpha2.csd.uwm.edu

A "combat ends" strike, or other card providing "combat ends" such as Elysium, ends the combat as soon as it is played. Nothing else can happen before the combat is over. So by definition, it will override first strike. Dodge works in much the same way. When played, it neutralizes any opposing strike chose during that "choose strike" step. Thus whether either or both minion has first strike is irrelevant. Tom Wylie rec.games.trading-cards.* Network Representative for aa...@cats.ucsc.edu Wizards of the Coast, Inc.

First Strike : The strike of a minion with First Strike IS RESOLVED BEFORE THE STRIKE OF THE OPPOSING MINION. Dodge isn't a First Strike, so... David; You do realize that you are arguing with a representative of the people who *wrote* the rules, don't you? That is not to say that Tom is never wrong (I saw it happen once or twice...), but rather that he has access to all of the official errata, rules changes and clarifications to the rules that have _ever_ been put out. The question about First Strike vs. Dodge first came up about three days after the game was released. Tom went back to the DESIGNERS of the game and asked them - they answered that a Dodge negates first strike. This is the sort of thing that needs to be cleared up, and is why they are changing the rulebook slightly in the next printing - so people don't get confused about these things. In the meantime, you have every right to play whatever way you want, (what are we gonna do - come into your house and stop you? :-) but most people reading the newsgroup are perfetly happy to accept the rulings Tom hands down as though they were written in the rulebook/clarified on the card. At least until Tom tells us that the design team has reversed its decision again... :-) Shane Travis | Opportunity is missed by most people because sht...@duke.usask.ca | it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. >Dodge isn't a First Strike, so... The only exception is Combat Ends >(because it is written in the rules). All dodges are considered First Strike even if the card doesn't say so. Just as all dodges are strikes even if the card doesn't say so.

Yes, first strike is dodged just like any other strike. Not absolutely sure on the Majesty question, but to me it makes sense that it, too, would nullify the fast attack since your aura of Majesty is not something that is prepped....you simply have it all the time. It would therefore allow you to stare down an opponent (or whatever.) Mike John Wade Kim (scy...@alpha2.csd.uwm.edu) wrote: : Hmm, Is it possible to dodge first strike? [ quoted text not captured ]

[ quoted text not captured ] Hi! I don't know where you buy your cards, but it says on my Dodge card... Do not replace until after combat. Strike: Dodge. So it clearly says that Dodge is a strike card. And dodge isn't a first strike card. I don't know if you don't have exactly the concept of first strike, but first strike damage is dealt at the strike resolution. So if someone says he's using first strike damage, the opponent still have to say his strike and then it's time to resolve the strikes (the first strike damage is resolved before normal damage). One way to think of this is to consider all Dodges as First Strikes. I prefer to think of the following order of strike resolution: - Strike: Combat Ends resolves first - Strike: Dodge resolves next - Strike: First Strike resolves next - all other strikes resolve last papillo the anarchist
