Cry Wolf Type: Ally Requires: anarch Unique werewolf with 3 life. 2 strength, 0 bleed. Requires a ready anarch. If the action to recruit this ally is blocked, the acting anarch goes to torpor. This werewolf must enter combat with any minion controlled by another Methuselah as a (D) action. He gets one optional press each combat. This werewolf does not untap as normal during your untap phase. If he is tapped during your untap phase, burn him. Abomination Type: Action Cost: 1 pool Unique. Requires a ready non-Sterile vampire. +1 stealth action. Burn an untapped werewolf ally (such as Renegade Garou, Werewolf Pack or Black Spiral Buddy) in your ready region to put this card in play. This card becomes a unique Independent Abomination vampire of 4 capacity with superior Protean [PRO]. You may move up to 4 blood from the acting vampire to this vampire. This vampire has +1 strength, gets an additional strike each round and gets an optional maneuver each combat. This vampire may attack any ready minion as a (D) action. Cry Wolf states that "[t]his werewolf must enter combat with any minion", making it seem as if that is a mandatory action. Like when a vampire must hunt, that action must occur before any other. So if Cry Wolf is ever untapped (either at the start of your minion phase or by any other means), the first action you have to take (apart from hunting) will be Cry Wolf's action, correct? If so, then because the card Abomination states that the target werewolf ally must be untapped then there can never be a situation where you can turn Cry Wolf into an Abomination, correct? Sorrow --- I told the priest - don't count on any second coming. God got his ass kicked the first time he came down here slumming. He had the balls to come, the gall to die and then forgive us. No, I don't wonder why, I wonder what he thought it would get us

Yes (or some other mandatory action). All mandatory actions are done before any non-mandatory action can be. > If so, then because the card Abomination states that the > target werewolf ally must be untapped then there can never be a situation > where you can turn Cry Wolf into an Abomination, correct? Typical example involves the Cry Wolf getting blocked and playing Change of Target.

There can be, but not without some setup. Cry Wolf could have no legal targets to rush. Cry Wolf could rush only to have combat ended with inferior Meld With the Land. Cry Wolf could rush, survive combat and then get untapped by any of the several rarely-seen action cards that can be used to untap allies. In any case, it's not a good idea. Those guys have been steering you wrong. Matt Morgan

[ quoted text not captured ] Yes, mandatory actions have to go first. So usually you cannot do this, but never is a big word. Say, you could manage to untap the cry wolf after it has taken this action. Or when it is otherwise unable to take it's mandatory action. Or you take an out of turn action. I'm sure there's other options. > Sorrow Cheers, Bram

My guess (and hope) would be no, since the action is cancelled along with the card's effects...

If it was a Force of Will, the agg damage would still be applied after Change of Target, too. http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/msg/88f3240c6c4d8181

I've managed to turn a Cry Wolf into an Abomination once, I recall, but it's tricky and by no means anything you can ever count on. Used Change of Target that time, though I guess other funkier combos could also work. Hard to pull off, in any case

Try Rayzeel's Song or Precognizant Mobility. After the initial rush, he cannot take it again due to NRA. So if you can use either of these cards to untap him, he's free to be Abominated. --> J grail_pbem "at" hotmail.com

[ quoted text not captured ] You could turn the Cry Wolf into an Abomination on your prey's turn by using the Madness Network. That seems to be the easiest way. Comments Welcome, Norman S. Brown, Jr XZealot Archon of the Swamp

So if you > can use either of these cards to untap him, he's free to be > Abominated. sorry if I am wasting peoples time, but I need to understand this: Doesnt the text on Cry Wolf mean that WHENEVER the pooch is untapped, it MUST rush? and that this is a mandatory action, so must be done before any other non-mandatory actions? So if you untap him through, say, an action (precognizant mobility), the first action afterwards would have to be a rush action with Cry Wolf or another mandatory action, wherefore you could not Abomination him.

Well, if he's already rushed and survived, if he is subsequently untapped then he cannot perform the same action per the NRA rules. As a result, he'll just be stuck and cannot take actions. Sorrow --- "..and most surprisingly of all - hardly any shock value. How can you make a film about bumping uglies with the dead and yet lack shock value?"

Am I missing something? 6.1.5 in the rulebook: To recruit an ally from your hand, play the card and tap the acting minion. If the action is successful, the ally is placed in your uncontrolled region, even though it is controlled, to indicate that it cannot act this turn (and the cost, if any, is paid). So, couldn't one, with two vamps in play, first recruit Cry Wolf and then abominate him as he is controlled, but simply unable to act when he comes into play?

Abom cardtext: Unique. Requires a ready vampire. +1 stealth action Burn an untapped werewolf ally (such as Renegade Garou, Werewolf Pack or Black Spiral Buddy) in your ready region to put this card in play. Ready region, my fault... ~m
