3 rounds plus finals
Your Move Games in Somerville
www.yourmovegames.com
Free!
The rules are quite restrictive (and a bit lengthy), but they have
to be. :)
It's recommended that for your crypt, you put cards in sleeves and
put print outs of your vamps in front of the cards. For tools and
help for creating your vampire cards, check out Damnan's site at:
http://www.almadrava.net/damnans/
Tools found here:
http://www.almadrava.net/damnans/downloads.htm
We'll have the following prize categories:
- Winning Player
- Best Artwork
- Best Clan That Didn't Use Dominate
- Most Creative/People's Choice
If you have any other recommendations for prize categories, email me!
THE RULES
* Clan must have a name and sect (can't choose Anarch)
* You may have a unique Hunting Ground for your clan, which must
also have a name. (Hunting Grounds with the same name will
contest!)
* All vamps in clan must be of that sect
* All vamps must have a unique name (Vamps with the same name
will contest!)
* Keep the names clean, kids!
* Clan must have three "in-clan" disciplines, and the set of three
must not be the same as that of an official clan
* Vampires may not have Bloodlines disciplines, though Bloodlines
discipline library cards may be used (in the outferior, or perhaps
via Vial of Elder Vitae or the like)
* Multi-discipline cards may not be used
* No more than two vampires of the same capacity
* No two vampires may share the exact same discipline spread
(For example, AUS POT QUI and AUS POT qui are ok, but not
two vamps with AUS POT QUI)
* No two vampires of 5-cap or less may share the same superior
discipline
* "Out-of-clan" disciplines may not be shared by more than two
vampires
* No two vampires of the same capacity may share the same "out-of-clan"
discipline
* A vampire may only have an "out-of-clan" discipline if it has all
three "in-clan" disciplines
* A vampire must spend more points on "in-clan" disciplines than on
"out-of-clan" disciplines
* Vampires get points for disciplines, titles, and specials as
follows, where X is the capacity of the vampire:
- 2-4 cap = X-1
- 5-8 cap = X
- 9-10 cap = X+1
* Disciplines as follows:
- Basic discipline: 1 point
- Superior discipline: 2 points
* Titles as follows:
- Primogen/Bishop min 6-cap, 0.5 points
- Prince/Archbishop min 8-cap, 1 point
- Justicar/Cardinal min 10-cap, 1.5 points
- Priscus min 8-cap, 1 point
- "This vampire has 2 votes" min 8-cap, Independent only, 1 point
* A clan may have only one Justicar or Cardinal
* A Prince or Archbishop must be of a specific domain. Allowable
domains are those of V:EKN Princes, except those of "official"
vampires (i.e. no Prince of Boston). The list of domains can be
found here: www.white-wolf.com/vtes/veknPrinces.html
* Special abilities as follows:
- +1 bleed: min 6-cap, 1.5 points (max +1 bleed)
- +1 strength: min 6-cap, 1.5 points (max +1 strength)
- +1 intercept: min 9-cap, 1 point (max +1 intercept)
- +1 stealth: min 9-cap, 2 points (max +1 stealth)
- +1 strength when in combat with a specific sect: no min, 1 point
(may be chosen in addition to +1 strength, above)
- + 1 bleed when bleeding a specific sect: no min, 1 point
(may be chosen in addition to +1 bleed, above)
* A vampire may have only one special ability (in addition to a title
and disciplines), and only one vampire per clan may have each special
ability
* If you have 0.5 points left over, too bad
* Your crypt must contain only vampires from your clan
* You may have no more than 2 copies of each vampire in your crypt
It's recommended that you email your crypt to me ahead of time so
I can make sure it's legal. My email address is fu...@mindstorm.com.
Feel free to email me with other questions you may have about the
tournament, as well. (Note: I'll be in Barcelona for the EC until
Wednesday, October 22, so I may be slow in responding)
See you there!

brilliant idea!
i hope for you that enough people will turn up for the event.
in my time as a vekn prince i even had problems to persuade 20 people to
play in a draft tournament. but with that much work...
be sure to tell us in detail what happened at that tourney.

I'd love to have a crack at something like this myself. Can't get hold of
Filemaker Pro though to make my own cards using Damnan's tools - can anyone
send me a copy of the program? Pretty please with sugar on top? :)

sooo.... here's a chance for the 'Ultimate' discipline combination -
given the additional rules.
I'm guessing you're going to see a LOT of DOM, mixed with stuff you
otherwise would'nt see a lot (hey, this is an opportunity, let's try
something new, right?).
How about PRO/PRE (princes/justicars)? Stealth, S:ce, Aggropoke&ranged
aggro, flesh of marble, BO, AWE, Voter Cap, (Parity shift, 2nd
trad...)
Yowza.
Of course, if someone was to organise this for JOL... ;)

Ok, earlier I posted that I thought PRE/PRO princes would do all right
in such a format...... how about this for a sample clan?
Prince 1 - 8 cap, Prince, PRE PRO xxx for pot
Prince 2 - 8 cap, Prince, PRE PRO XXX pot
Prince 3 - 9 Cap, prince, PRE PRO XXX +1 stealth
Justicar - 10 CAP, Justicar, PRE PRO XXX for +1 Str, +1 Str versus
camarilla
5 Cap - PRE PRO xxx
4 Cap - PRE pro
3 cap - pre pro
And since you can double up on vampires, that's enough choice, but
otherwise you can always think up some more of them.
For XXX take your pick. Dominate for obedience, bleed boost, deflect,
govern? Fortitude for prevent/Freak drive? Auspex for
intercept/redirect/information/pulse? Potence for bruise/vote?
Ouch....

Dang Ben,
And I recently completed creation of the Nictuku in Filemaker Pro which
contains 12 Nictuku Vampires w/ pics. Too bad Boston isn't a tad bit
closer.

Is there a maxiumum point value for the entire crypt, or is everyone
free to make 12 distinct 10 capacity vampires with mad specialz.

Already thinking about it actually :)
It would be very helpful if whatever vampires people come up with for
that tournament are posted somewhere. Both as an example and as an
available pool of legal vampires to choose from for future events.
I imagine determining if crypts are valid will be a bit of a nightmare.
This would mostly have to be based on the honour system I should think.
Another thing to consider... some disciplines, notably Chimerstry really
need the "Paths" to be viable. If you are allowing Hunting Grounds for
the fake-clan, you may want to consider allowing the Paths also, but
substitute the fake-clan for the real clan. No reason why someone
experimenting with CHI should be at less of an advantage than the Ravnos
already are.
In general, this is a very cool idea! There's no way I can make it down
there for this tourney, but I've still been thinking up a lot of fake
clans in my head. Dammit, I wish I could go!
Cheers,
WES

My bad. With so many rules I must have overlooked how that rule
answered my question :-P

Cant have 2 vamps under 5 with the same superior discipline :)
your third discipline should be AUS btw.

By "advantage" you mean "playable, with this rare we finally printed",

Flight would be a special ability, and one that's not stated in the
'special abilities' list, so you can't have vampires with flight.

That's 2 vamps _under_ 5 with the same superior, which he doesn't have.

Well, since I'm not likely to be anywhere near Boston anytime soon,
someone will have to 'borrow' my clan:
Name: Clan Deprecate (aka 'The Pricks')
Sect: Sabbat
Disciplines: Potence, Thaumaturgy, Vicissitude
Vampire Cap Disciplines Special
Andrew Underbridge 2 pot
Geoff, 'l33t' 2 vic
David 3 tha vic
Robyn 3 pot vic
The Hon. Josh 4 pot tha vic
Ethan, The Mongrel 4 pot VIC
Peter Hater 5 POT tha vic +1 str vs. Cam
Kevin Catastrophe 5 pot THA vic +1 bleed vs. Cam
Jay Kay 6 POT THA VIC
Derek Raze 6 pot tha VIC Bishop, +1 str
Jeff, 'The Tzimisce' 8 POT THA VIC for Priscus
Ben, For Whom the Bell Tolls 8 POT THA VIC pre Archbishop of
Kalamazoo
Note: Any resemblance of the vampires to persons living or dead is
entirely coincidental. Heh.
I tend to think the decklist would pretty much write itself, but
anyone looking for pointers could dig up my 'Tear You a New One' and
substitute Blood Fury/Rage for Undead Strength/Body Arsenal and be
most of the way there...
Great concept Ben!
Have fun,

actually the rule is:
* No two vampires of 5-cap or less may share the same superior discipline
So what i said may not have been technically correct, the intention was :)

I take it one cannot design a vampire over the capacity of 10?
Yesterday at our weekly game people though to avoid the 'maximum 2 of
the same capacity' rule by just making 11+ caps. "So, I influence up
the sire of Caine with these three Zillah's Valleys..."
Sadly, I won't be able to come (it's a tad far away for me), but I
applaud the concept and I think you've drafter an excellent set of
basic rules. I imagine this could become a popular type of
unsanctioned tournament. Maybe something to plan alongside regular
tournaments in multi-day events, for those who don't like draft?
Succes and my regards,

hi,
i have created my own clan. as i cannot come to boston for this tourney i
guess it is mainly for my own entertainment.
now i have a question regarding the file maker application. i have created a
whole clan with the vampires being records in one file. i know i can print
the vampires of a record all at once.
does anyone know if there is a way to turn these records into jpg. files?
there should be a way because damnans posts jpg files on his website.

This is nothing short of brilliant.
Many players have often complained "why aren't there more vamps with
PRE/VIC" (or whatever two disciplines) when they are trying something
new and different.
Here's there chance.
Very very fun concept.
I salute you !

First off I agree this is the coolest kind of tournements that I have
ever heard of, I am actually losing sleep at night thinking about the
possiblities.
Second: What is the definition of a Multi-Disciple Cards? Does it
include the Anarch 3-way cards or just cards that require 2
disciplines?
thanks
So what happened for the tournament?! My players in Seattle are really
excited about the create a clan event, so much so that we car having
one in December but I'm curious how the event went.

Well, there may be an "official" report pending. But I can provide
some details.
The event was a blast. We had 10 players and really high production
values on the cards. Most of them can be seen off the Boston V:TES
site here:
http://www.darkwindrising.com/vampire/cac1/cac1.asp
I was quite proud of my Mazzeri clan -- even though I had just plucked
images for a Google search and pasted it together with Paint and
Publisher. But everyone else outclassed me -- busted out the
previously unseen photoshop skills and did some fun stuff.
Lots of joke clans, as you can see, so the whole day was filled with
exchanges like "Bleed with Battle Dwarf Torgulon". "Sluffleupagus to
block"... Goofy fun.
Sadly DJ's Aztecs aren't up yet. He won the art prize with a very nice
set of vamps.
Playwise, it was interesting how non-broken the decks were. They
didn't really seem stronger or weaker than normal stuff. My
CEL,FOR,VIC rush deck totally flamed out getting 0 vp for the day.
Lots of combat defense out there and despite my Krazy Kraken's Kiss
Kombo the deck lacked both killing power and defense.
I didn't stick around for the finals, but I understand that John
Mason's Hair Bands won the day. So, it turns out that by using OBF and
DOM together you can make a strong bleed deck. Who woulda thunk it?!?
It's a cool format and I think we all want to try it again. Maybe
spice it up with those crazy Bloodlines disciplines next time...
