I have a vampire with 1 blood and a temptation with 1 blood which I
control. Can I tap the vampire to hunt and, before the resolution of
the action, burn the 1 blood off temptation to untap the vampire, then
gain a blood for the successful hunt?

Sure.

sometimes you hunt for more than one - and if you have 0 counters it
makes differrence

Or:
Temptation on Bupe
Perfectionist on Bupe
Minion Tap Bupe Clean
Hunt with Excellent Thirst
(Burn Temptation Counters before action successful to untap)
+4 Blood (1 extra for perfectionist)
Entrenching
+3 Blood (to Capacity)
Tap Heidelberg to feed others
Hunt with Excellent Thirst
(Burn Temptation Counters before action successful to untap)
+3 Blood
Bupe goes to a Rave to transfer 3 blood onto another minion
(Burn Temptation Counters after action successful to untap)
Hunt with Excellent Thirst
(Burn Temptation Counters before action successful to untap)
+3 Blood
Temptation another vamp
Play Truth of a Thousand Lies to untap
Hunt with Excellent Thirst
(Burn Temptation Counters before action successful to untap)
+3 Blood
Reckless Agitation with Approximation of Loyalty on a little vamp
(Burn Temptation Counters after action successful to untap)
Hunt with Excellent Thirst
(Burn Temptation Counters before action successful to untap)
+3 Blood
etc.
etc.
Could get quite ridiculous after a while. Of course the chances of a
deck running like this is very slim indeed. Still, it's always seemed
a little strange to me that not only can you tempt your own vampires,
but you can do it more than once in a round.

I'm pretty certain you can only use a given Temptation once per round.
Temptation [AH:R2, FN:PS, KMW:PB, LotN:PS3]
Cardtype: Action
Cost: 1 blood
Discipline: Serpentis
[ser] (D) Put this card on a ready vampire; you still control this
card.
During your master phase, you may put a counter on this card. During
your minion phase, if the number of counters on this card equals or
exceeds the amount of blood on this vampire, you may burn the
counters to untap this vampire and take control of him or her until
the
end of the turn.
[SER] As above, and add a counter when you play this card.
"During your minion phase..., you may..." implies once per minion
phase.
You can do this sort of thing, but it requires one copy of Temptation
per untap.

And you oust your prey, how? Just wondering. ;)

True. It does follow the During X do Y template - so it would only
work once during that phase (it was so seperated in the text that I
didn't even notice).

Well, I left the important bits out of my initial post which pretty
much sums up my stance to your question. Still, I've seen many a deck
win just by completely outfarming everyone else and using the minion
superiority to their advantage. Plus, in my example you had things
like Reckless Agitation that, last time I checked, did an awefully
good job at ousting players.

Might I suggest a slightly less card intensive, permanent-focused
version
It leaves room for offensive cards (I recommend a 60-75 card deck
for this one).
Base module.
Hesha Ruhadze = 2 stealth hunt for 2 with [SER]
Aaron's Feeding Razor = 2 stealth hunt for 3
Into the Fire + Hungry Coyote = 2 stealth hunt for 4
Sunset Strip Hollywood = 3 steath hunt for 4.
Harvest Rites = 1shot +1hunt
Perfectionist = 1shot +1hunt
Communal Haven, Temple = move blood at start of turn
Heidleburg Castle = move blood during turn
Mostly repeatable, as many times as you put Temptation on Hesha.
Add [pre] bleed with [obf] stealth. There are also 5 other
G2/3 vampires of cap < 6 who have [pre][obf].
One of even helps get the Feeding Razor in play.
Pack a bunch of both Vessels and Blood Dolls, as you'll
be pulling pool like mad from numerous sources even without
resorting to in-turn raves (remember, Temple is not unique,
so you'll be shuffling a lot of blood during your untap)
I also recommend Secure Haven. Hesha is a huge rush target
when he has multiple Temptations, Vessels and Dolls.
