* Skin of Steel - If you do a strike that does damage to all vamps/minions in combat, can you use Skin of Steel to prevent the damage your receive from your own strike? I say no, but I'd like to get confirmation. * Undead Persistance - Card Text: Only usable when this vampire should go into torpor. Optional press, and this vampire will not go into torpor until combat ends or 3 rounds of combat pass with no cards played. I know that this doesn't work like a Trap (although, it looks like it *should*) because the wording is there. So my question is this: how could the second requirement ever be fulfilled? How could 3 rounds pass with no cards played? Is this just a case of very poor wording? a0

You mean like the self-damaging bomb? No. Can't use a Leather Jacket either. > * Undead Persistance - > Card Text: > Only usable when this vampire should go into torpor. > Optional press, and this vampire will not go into torpor > until combat ends or 3 rounds of combat pass with no > cards played. > > I know that this doesn't work like a Trap (although, it > looks like it *should*) because the wording is there. > So my question is this: how could the second requirement > ever be fulfilled? If you play a card to press every round, you'll never fulfill the requirement for ending the combat. If it is used in combination with a Trap, the second requirement could be met. (1 Press from UP, and then 3 Presses from Trap. There are also cardless Presses like mob connections) Robert Goudie rrgo...@earthlink.net http://madnessnetwork.hexagon.net

No. I know you can't use SoS on a Bomb because the damage from it (and White Phospherous Grenade, et al) are side effects. I'm talking about strikes like Burst of Sunlight, for example. >for ending the combat. If it is used in combination with a Trap, the >second requirement could be met. Side effect damage is not counted as "damage from a strike". Therefore, self-inflicted damage from Zip Gun, Grenade, Burst of Sunlight, Body of Sun, etc. is side effect damage and is not preventable by "prevent damage from a strike" effects like Skin of Steel, Leather Jacket, etc. [LSJ 970108] > * Undead Persistance - > Card Text: > Only usable when this vampire should go into torpor. Or the minions could be using presses from cards in play: Hawg, Mob Connections, Shadow of the Beast, etc. and/or from cards played before the combat: Fast Reaction, Rat's Warning, etc. -- L. I know a dodge by your opponent doesn't negate a burst, so I'd assume that Burst of Sunlight follows the same "side" effect rules. > >>for ending the combat. There are also cardless Presses like mob connections) Yeah, I used to play undead persistence the same way, until it was pointed out you didn't actually get the presses from the persistence. Just use another source of presses. Vince
