Hmm...some interesting stuff going on. So here are some important updates (followed by some other relavant posts): Seems like the White Wolf web-site has just been updated with the new 2004 Tournament Rules. Not too many changes but I highly suggest people take a look at it. - Clarification of "sufficiently mixed" Jyhad/VTES cards is helpful. - Suspension of Grouping rule for Limited Tournaments is good too. Avoids the whole "what if you can't make a legal deck b/c your 12th vampire is a Group 1 and the rest are Group 3" situations. Guess people won't need stacks of Gwendolyns handy after all! Can't wait to try a Jyhad + CE draft! ;) Halcyan 2

Well, kind of. :-) Changes from the 2003 rules according to the update section at the top: a.. 4.1 Clarified that Library and Crypt cards must both be sufficiently mixed when using Jyhad and Vampire card backs. a.. 3.1.5 Clarified that players may not modify their decks between rounds. a.. 4.3 Clarified that new rules released in expansions and basic sets are used in Constructed tournament play beginning 30 days after their retail release date. a.. 9.8 Added rules for running non-open events like a National Championship. a.. 3.1.2 Organizers are encouraged to use the Optimal Seating Chart found in The Archon. a.. 7.2.1 The section has been renamed and now suspends the crypt Grouping rule for Limited tournaments. > - Clarification of "sufficiently mixed" Jyhad/VTES cards is helpful. I can't actually tell what the change is there. "If Jyhad and Vampire: The Eternal Struggle cards are both used, in order to prevent a significant advantage, all cards from the Jyhad or Vampire: The Eternal Struggle card sets must be of sufficiently mixed card type - that is, Master cards must appear with both Jyhad and V:TES card backs (or at least three different card types must have Jyhad backs)." This seems like exactly what it said last year, unless they had omitted the "three different card types" part? I don't have an old copy to check against, unfortunately. It doesn't seem to actually clarify anything about crypt cards specifically, if that was supposed to be the change. The only thing I do notice is that in the 2002 version (which I did have saved :-) it just said "if Jyhad cards are used" not "if Jyhad and VTES cards are both used". > - Suspension of Grouping rule for Limited Tournaments is good too. Can't wait to try a Jyhad + CE draft! ;) Well, you could still need Gwendolyns (or something) if people accidentally (or something) didn't manage to draft 12 vampires. But no grouping rule should be helpful, yeah. Advanced Tusk and Lazarus become useful in Anarchs draft! Err... almost. The Judges' Guide doesn't seem to have been updated at all. Anyone know if it's going to be, or if the 2004 version will just be the same as the 2003 version? Josh le out of le loop

Thanks for the pointer. :-) Josh should've lobbied earlier for other changes
