Can we get back to the on-topic posts, please. If you don't know how to post on a newsgroup, see news:news.newusers If you need to respond directly to a poster, don't start a new topic. The poster's email address is typically included in the header of his post. Email him directly. If you need to flame someone, do it in news:alt.flame Thank you, Scott -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. I totally agree with you . Lets get back on the topic . As for netiquette , I post on forum all the time and it's the first time someone make a big deal out of it And for the record , my internet provider ( The biggest in Canada ) doesnt have access to news:news.newusers ... Si i never readed that . "LSJ" <vte...@white-wolf.com> wrote in message news:3C1EC515...@white-wolf.com... [ quoted text not captured ]

It's probably due to the fact that there's a lot of useful stuff here to read so we try to keep off-topic and pointless posts to a minimum. > And for the record , my internet provider ( The biggest in Canada ) doesnt > have access to news:news.newusers ... Si i never readed that . The group names have probably changed. A quick look found news:news.announce.newusers and news:news.newusers.questions which might be helpful. Lastly, a tip, don't use your proper email address if you can. A lot of spammers get email addresses by sending programs trawling through newsgroups. Try setting your email address for your newsreader to martin.l...@nospam.sympatico.ca or something like that, anyone reading your messages will realise to remove the nospam part and it should confuse automated programs spammers use. It won't get you off spam lists you're already on but should help stop you from getting on more.

The only real thing to know to get along successfully in an online forum is: read the forum without posting ("lurk") for a while (30 days is the usual recommendation) to observe how things are done in a given forum (like not top-posting, which is the de facto rule in virtually all USENET newsgroups). Then, if and when you do post, follow that style. Following the posting style used in a group will cut down on the number of off-topic (and sometimes downright off-rocker) responses (and flames). It also will make it easier for your posts to be read in the context of a discussion (which is pressumably what you want when you post anyhow - I'm assuming you're not just trolling for flames), at least in the case of quoting and responding appropriately (not top-posting, quoting only the part of the previous post which you're addressing, etc.) And, for the rest of you, again, take the flames to email or news:alt.flames, where follow-ups to this message have been directed). No one needs to see how wittily you can off-topically insult someone on this group, no matter how much you or anyone else thinks he or she deserves it. If you've got a game-related argument (or even rant) to settle, then fine (well, passable anyway). Anyone feel like talking about a Trading Card Game about vampires now? [ quoted text not captured ]
