In the beginning of combat the acting minion maneuvers long and the
blocking
minion plays drawing out the beast. Is the result that combat is at
long range? I
would assume that if the blocking minion maneuvers short then the acting
minion is
not able to maneuver long.
One of the issues here is when can DotB be played. Does the blocking
minion need
to wait until the acting minion chooses to maneuver or can the he play
DotB before
the acting minion has a chance to play a maneuver?

Ack checking my card text it actually doesn't specify that the card
is played before maneuvers, only before range is determined. I have
always played this cards as a pre-manever card (much the same as torn
signpost etc.) Perhaps I have been wrong all this time... LSJ?????

In article <35131F82...@infomatch.com>,
[ quoted text not captured ]
TBBOMK, 'play before range is determined' is functionally equivalent
to 'play before maneuvers,' as maneuvering is an integral part of
the range-determining process.

Correct. "before range is determined" = "before determining range" =
"before maneuvering".
