Ok, I've played this deck a few times now, and although the combo, if
you can get it working, is BRUTAL AS HELL, it really suffers in a few
areas.
Firstly, it's slow to get going, revolving around a big vampire AND
equipping/recruting, you're generally looking at 5 or so turns before
you've got what you need.
Second, pool/blood is pretty hard to come by.
I need help.
Keep in mind a few things though - DotB and Grapples are vital. We
don't want people sodding off to long range or S:CE against us. Also,
the stealth is necessary to get the Ghouls/weapons out. Lastly, the
prevents are necessary too - DotB means you're getting hit for AT
LEAST 2 points of damage each strike, this adds up quick.
Deck Name: Ivan the Terrible
Created By: Me
Description: The aim is simple - Get a Ghoul Retainer and a
Flamethrower on a vampire with Potence. Rush, Grapple, vampire hits
them while the Ghoul uses the 'thrower. Multiple Ghouls can use the
same weapon, and Mass Reality REALLY makes that sting (2 Ghouls and a
Mass Reality is 8 environmental, aggravated damage! Ouch...). Use
Decapitate to off them if the agg. damage doesn't.

I'm not 100% certain on this, but you might just be out of luck. The
on-line text on Mass Reality says 'inflicts +1 (+2 at superior) damage
each strike' and the text on Ghoul Retainer quite clearly states that
the retainer is not striking even though it's using the weapon.
As I said, I'm not 100%.

It's fine.
Weapons in general say "X damage each strike".

Ok, hopefully LSJ will say yes or no on this, but that being the case
it'll free up 4 slots straight away. I kinda take your point though,
if it was striking, then you could use things like Skin of Steel and
Leather Jacket.... Hmm.
Well Mr LSJ?
Martin
Hmmmmmm. I recognize this idea from somewhere...now where was it?
Looks pretty good as it is chump.
4 ambushes? Are you mad. You only need one. (see The Punisher for inspiration)

I count 18 Chimerstry cards that cost blood. The Path of Paradox.

These cost, like, 3 pool (and an action). Having 3 extra pool lying around
seemed to be an issue.
>2 Sensory Deprivation
>2 Skin of Night
>2 Skin of Rock
Personal view is that Skin of Rock is a coaster. Multiple agg is not common
enough to pick it over Resilience or Rolling With the Punches.
>5 Skin of Steel
Again, with the whole preserve/recover blood thing, Taste of Vitae.
Then, there's the lack of Freak Drives. Explainable given the hemorrhaging of
blood this deck undergoes, though could throw in Restorations, except all of
this adds too many cards.
It would be nice to reduce some of the stealth in order to make room for other
stuff. After getting partially tooled up, the stealth shouldn't be important
as wasting anyone who blocks becomes possible.
The amount of prevention seems unreliable. Maybe putting in Flak Jackets would
lessen the dependence on it, though there's still the problem of what to take
out.
Anyway, I'd consider starting with dropping a Heidelburg and The Rack for two
Paradoxes and dropping the Gypsys for Tastes? and see how that goes.
Nice deck. Pool&Blood gain has to be improved.

If you want more speed add two weenies like Sasha and Lazar. Drop one
1 Tereza, 1 Vaclav. Don't know if it's a good suggestion though...

For blood gain add: 1 Giants Blood, 2 Path of Paradox, 1 The Coven
For more stealth add: 1 Fortune Teller Shop
Drop: 1 Potence (Ivan is the one who should do most of the figthing),
2 Haven

Need to speed up the deck. Add 4 Freak Drive.
For blood gain add 2 Restoration. 2 Taste of Vitae.
2 Muricias Call to pick the retainer you want for the moment.
Drop: 1 Rom Gypsy (now have an extra shop instead), 1 Mass Reality, 2
Sensory Depravation (you should burn them instead ;-), 1 Ghoul
Retainer (we have two Muricias Call), 2 Horrid Reality (not necessary,
save one for surprise), 1 Decapitate, 4 Ambush
Also drop these for better prevent: 2 Skin of Night, 2 Skin of Rock, 3
Skin of Steel (save 2 for the ones with for)
Add: 3 Resiliance, 4 Rolling with the Punches
So I dropped the rush. It was not so much in the first place. You can
block to get into combat instead. But yeah...it's a flaw, also
difficult to oust your prey, but the deck should have little more
staying power now and this is a deck for end game.

Thanks for the advice - you are not the first person to recommend I
put in a Path or two.
My reasoning for the Gypsies were mainly for the stealth - blocking my
ghouls (which happens a lot) is a REAL pain is the ass. I tried to
over come this but packing a splash of stealth here and there. Plus
they're always nice for getting around the Daring the Dawn bleed....
I'll make a couple of changes and see how it goes. Really gotta get
some tastes in there somehow.

Muricia's Call will only allow you to pick up Raven Spies, since Ghoul
Retainers don't require Animalism...
