I'm not sure if anybody's asked this yet,but... If you play ritual of the bitter rose during combat when a vampire is burned, how much blood do you receive? The card says you get the blood that is on the vampire, but if you did enough to burn it, it shouldn't give you anything- so why use it? Can anybody help me out? Thanks, Shawn Bell

If a vampire is burned flat out by aggravated damage, then it didn't actually lose any blood from the strike, so you would get the normal amount from the Ritual. If it was simply sent to torpor, then it did take the damage, so you won't necessarily be getting any blood out of it. As I understand it, each point of damage : is either healed or burns. Say Dimple has 1 blood, and I hit him : with Zack North (2 hand damage) and a Lucky Blow during a Dawn : Operation. Dimple takes 3 aggravated. The first sends him to : torpor, the second is healed by his last blood point (removing it), : and the third burns him. When we get to the burn part, he's got no : blood left. : And the Ritual can only be used when the vampire is diablerized, so : sending to torpor will not let you play the ritual. You have to : use Amaranth to do it (at which point the vampire *could* have its : full blood complement if it only took 1 aggravated (BTW, Amaranth : lets you diablerize rather then letting your opponent go to torpor)). : Either way, I don't see anything in the game which indicates that : damage is not taken if it's not prevented. : | If you've got a hot lead on a new | *--Joe--* : | PC game, call the announce line at | js...@vt.edu : | ** csi...@discus.ise.vt.edu ** | : +-------------------------------------+---------------------------------- : "Carnivores, oy!" -- Timon, TLK I agree with Joe about the damage. It's my understanding that after the first point of aggravated damage the rest is taken out in blood. Also, a vampire is burned if it took more aggravated damage than it has blood (sect. 15.1 of rule book). After thinking about the card I came up with another question: the card says that," ALL your ready vampires gain the amount of blood from the blood bank that is on a vampire you are destroying by diablerie." and the rule book says diablerie gives "the vampire performing the action all the blood and equipment on the slain vampires card..." Does this mean that the diablerizing vampire recieve DOUBLE the amount of blood. And if he doesn't get the double blood, does he still get the equipment? Thanks, Shawn Bell

I'm still not sure exactly how the Ritual works. Could anybody tell me which of the following statements are correct any why. 1) When you burn a vampire in combat, the vampire has no blood on it and has received at least 1 aggravated damage so playing the ritual gives you absolutly nothing. -or- 2) You play the Ritual while damage is being resolved but before any blood is actualy removed so the ritual gives your vampire the blood that was on the opponents vampire before combat started. -also- The card says that all minons gain the amount of blood that was on vampire if you play the ritual while commiting diablerie, does that mean that your vamp that did the deed should get double (the amount he would have got normally plus the blood from the bitter rose) ? I don't think it would, but I'll make sure. One last question, does anybody know if there is a white border printing of Jyhad planned? Thanks for your time, Shawn Bell be...@it.uwp.edu

I thought that Bitter Rose was used on Diablerie; and that burning a vampire in combat was NOT diablerie (unless done by Amaranth). If this works, then I will start calling votes against those anti-immortalists who keep burning my fame boyz...

You use it in combat when another vampire is burned and use it as a modifier when you commit diablerie. It is suppose to give all your vampires the blood that was on the destroyed vampire. [ quoted text not captured ] But the current ruling is that it is only useful in combat when combined when Amaranth. Otherwise, all of your vampires gain 0 blood. I don't particularly agree with it, but that's the 'official' view on the card right now.... !-----------------------------------------------------------------------------!
