Yesterday, we had a Veil of Darkness in play, and the following happened: Lazverinus rushes Cyscek. No prerange, Laz strikes Earthshock, but the strike's effect is canceled by VoD. What happens and why?

[ quoted text not captured ] I don't see how the identities of being Lazvernius or Cyscek affect anything, so let's say vampire A rushes vampire B so as not to get distracted. A plays a Potence-requiring strike card that costs 1 blood. It is A's first Discipline-requiring card play of the turn, so Veil of Darkness must be checked. A's controller reveals the top card of xer library, and it's a master card. So the strike card played is canceled with no cost. The strike card is placed in the ash heap and its replacement (the master card previously revealed) is drawn. A has not yet announced a strike, so must do so. It may be any strike, including another copy of the strike that was canceled by VoD or a different strike card or a default hand strike.

[ quoted text not captured ] The Earthshock has no effect, and Lazverinus picks a new strike. "has no effect" and "cancelled" are basically synonymous. With a DI, you'd get to pick a new strike, so pick a new one here. http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/msg/7da6baf8251303a1 http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/msg/76f17476696d3203 -- James Coupe PGP Key: 0x5D623D5D YOU ARE IN ERROR.
