[LSJ] What about Bum's Rush?

Greetings everyone, We are having an issue about how to define "an action" at our tables. Here is the perfect example with Bum's Rush: Bum's Rush, Action Do not replace until the end of this action. (D) Enter combat with a ready minion controlled by another Methuselah. The acting minion gets an optional maneuver during this combat. As the text says, the action is to "enter combat with". So, once I'm in combat (with all the phases we know), and if I wasn't blocked, the action is resolved because I HAVE just entered in combat. I am NOW in combat. This would mean I replace my card (since the action of entering combat has ended). Some players say that there can't be any combat without an action, so the combat implies the action, and so the card is replaced after combat. Who's right here? Regards -- Enkahel

[ quoted text not captured ] The action is not over until all of its effects (including all combats that result, whether from the action itself or any blocks) are over.

In combat, you are resolving the Bum's Rush action. The action isn't yet over. Like when you put a turkey in the oven, you are cooking. Putting in the turkey doesn't mean you've finished cooking (just that you've finished prepping the turkey for the oven). And, if there are any additional combats to be done (from Psyche! or Fast Reaction, for example), they're also handled during the action (before the end of the action).

No, the action is not resolved until all combats are concluded. > Some players say that there can't be any combat without an action, so > the combat implies the action, and so the card is replaced after combat. Those players would be correct. > Who's right here? The Bum's Rush is not replaced until after the last combat (in the case of multiple combats). Comments Welcome, Norman S. Note that there is a gap after the combat before Bum's Rush is replaced. For example, Cat's Guidance goes in this gap. -- James Coupe PGP Key: 0x5D623D5D YOU ARE IN ERROR.
