Hi, We know the discard due to Dreams of the Sphinx +2 handsize ending happens during the discard phase ( http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/msg/eab999842a265b3d ). Let's consider this situation: It is A's turn. B tapped her Dreams of the Sphinx during A's turn. A's influence phase is over. Which happens first: (a) A gets to use a discard phase action (b) B discards 2 to Dreams of the Sphinx I think I've been using it as if it were a mandatory effect the controller of the Dreams had to resolve when the impulse in the discard phase reached her. Thus, A gets to use a DPA first, and then ( == when A passes on using effects / playing cards / using DPAs), B gets to (and must) discard 2 cards. A would then get the impulse back, per the normal sequence rules. Thanks ~~ Dreams of the Sphinx Cardtype: Master Cost: 1 pool Unique master. Put this card in play. Put a counter on this card each time you tap it. When the third counter is added, burn this card. Tap this card to get +2 hand size until the end of the current turn. Tap during your untap phase to gain an additional pool if you have the Edge. Tap to move a blood from the bank to a vampire in your uncontrolled region.

No. It's not an event to be ordered. The hand size bonus lasts until the end of the turn (i.e., until everyone passes to lead to the turn ending). [ quoted text not captured ]

A finishes her influences phase. Per your answer, after A discards to Dreams of the Sphinx, it is too late to use a Discard Phase Action, right ?

[ quoted text not captured ] Yes, although players frequently bundle this activity together, sometimes mechanically in the opposite order. (That is, my answer is not a tool to use to prevent a player from using xeir DPA.)

Yes. "Too late" doesn´t exist. Unless there has been explicit pass on DPA from the acting player you simply cannot discard down. Sometimes people assume implicit passes, but then in case of a conflict you have to roll back. Johannes - who would love if players announced things more correctly and would not rely on implicit passes

This is no longer true, as an END TURN phase has been added as a Turn Phase since that question was asked in 2005. http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/index.php?line=outline Kevin M., Prince of Las Vegas "Know your enemy and know yourself; in one-thousand battles you shall never be in peril." -- Sun Tzu, *The Art of War* "Contentment...Complacency...Catastrophe!" -- Joseph Chevalier Please visit VTESville daily! http://vtesville.myminicity.com/ Please bid on my auctions! http://shop.ebay.com/kjmergen/m.html

I suppose it's somewhere on the NG with Last Stand involved. Anyways, the idea was to know if A could ask B to discard down first, and then use her DPA. Answer is No, thanks :)
