A question came up in a game yesterday: if I bring out a Black Spiral Buddy, and on the same turn turn him into an Abomination, can the new Ab take an action that turn? The BSB cannot since he is a newly-recruiteed ally, but the Ab is no longer an ally... does the no-action-this-turn restriction still apply? //Petri

[ quoted text not captured ] I don't think the restriction on first-turn ally actions applies. The Abomination doesn't "remember" anything about it's past as an ally. And unlike other cards, Abomination card text doesn't have any such restrictions (Embracees need to hunt, Progeny and Creation Rites can't act). So card text (or lack thereof) indicates that the Abomination can do whatever he wants when created (unless he must hunt b/c he's empty). Halcyan 2

[ quoted text not captured ] You cannot turn an ally into an Abomination in the turn the ally is recruited because it doesn't enter your ready region until the end of your influence phase [6.1.5]. When you do get to create the abomination, it can act the turn it is created.

I recall reading somewhere you could do this since it's not taking an action. But if it's not in ready region how can you? Is it counted as uncontrolled until influence phase? Roger

[ quoted text not captured ] Allies are odd in this reguard, it is controlled but it is not ready ( somewhat similar to a vamp in torpor ) and hence can use it's special abilities but cannot do anything, or be the target of an effect, that requires the minion to be ready. Abomination requires the target to be ready ( card text ).
