Forget what I just posted earlier this week. It seems our printer worked through the holiday because Sabbat War suddenly arrived to our warehouse today. We are beginning to process orders to our distributors today and I would expect most retail stores in the US to have it by January 12 and overseas by January 19. Please help us by informing your local retailers to place their orders with their chosen distributor. Thanks Steve Wieck White Wolf BTW - anyone planing draft tournaments - the booster Vampire collation is fixed, and all display boxes indicate 2nd printing on the bottom.

Can I assume you mean the 2nd print run? Matt Pittard [ quoted text not captured ]

I couldn't think of anything more intelligent to say than "Yaay!" myself, but the silence that followed sure seemed ungrateful to Steve, WW, and the overtime working printers. So, as well, Yaay!!!! Very cool. I'm actually back in this newsgroup to find out: Will there be a difference in the 2nd print-run cards? Is there a black-border difference, etc? Thanks. [ quoted text not captured ]

I think that in a way this answers your questions. To make them different bordered would require new plates, as would changing some minor errata, and the font size, etc. This is *expensive*. However, telling the printer/collator to do their job right the second time is *cheap* in comparison. And to have them add "2nd Print" to the bottom of the boxes is also probaly quite cheap (only 1 plate to change, and so forth). I think there are no other changes to the look, feel, or taste of the cards, otherwise Steve would have mentioned it. Good theory, but the errata to Speed of Thought, Power Structure, and Creation Rites have been included in the cards. A few other adjustments have also been made (like the flipped yellow plate on Effective Management), but none that affect game play. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) VTES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. I'll be boneheaded for a moment here.... So what you're saying is that there will be no visible method of distinguishing a Sabbat War card from the first printing vs. the 2nd printing. Collectors trying to get one of every card would want to know... Unless someones is collecting boxes, then the printing "2nd Print" to the booster box doesn't really make a difference either. Since some of my cards are in storage, and I can only look at the Sabbat war cards I have....was there a difference between the SABBAT vs. the SABBAT WAR cards? (Since there were some cards from both sets) Thanks! Dustin [ quoted text not captured ]

With the exception of the three cards with errata LSJ mentions in this thread, I cannot see the point in collecting cards both from the 1st and the 2nd printing of Sabbat War seperately - they are the same cards, printed from the same plates, and they are supposed to be the same as in the first print run! And yes, there are differences between Sabbat and Sabbat War cards - they have different symbols for the expansion they are from, and quite a lot of the "old" cards found in the SW set have had their errata incorporated into the card text. -- Hardy Range hardy...@gmx.de

>Collectors trying to get one of every card would want to know... >Unless someones is collecting boxes, then the printing "2nd Print" to >the booster box doesn't really make a difference either. More or less I think. The most important reason for the 2nd Print thing is that in the 1st Print, some of the rarities (like for vampires) were messed up so playing sealed tournaments had some slight problems. That sorting problem has been corrected in 2nd Print so that if you decide to have a sealed tournament, you can tell which versions of the boosters are being given. Or at least that's the way I understood it to be... >Since some of my cards are in storage, and I can only look at the >Sabbat war cards I have....was there a difference between the SABBAT >vs. the SABBAT WAR cards? (Since there were some cards from both >sets) Well besides the different symbol in the upper right hand corner (Sabbat had an S and SW has some weird crossy-thing), you might also be able to tell from the actually card material. I don't own much Sabbat myself, but I've heard that a different type of card stock was used and maybe different thinness? Also I've heard that SW cards are flimsier. Not sure if all those rumors are true though. Halcyan 2

> (Sabbat had an S and SW has some weird crossy-thing) Heh.. The "weird crossy-thing" is the symbol that the Sabbat uses in the RPG.

Each pack, for instance, had 4 uncommons. Of those, two were supposed to be vampire and the other two were supposed to be library cards. That didn't work out, though. Some packs had 4-0, or 0-4 splits. But they still had four uncommons. > playing sealed tournaments had some slight problems. [ quoted text not captured ] Actually, one of the folks in my playgroup who works for a printer says that it feels to him like the paper stock is the same, but the varnish, or finish is a thinner coat, which makes the cards seem flimsier. Don't know if this is the case, but he seemed to know of what he spoke. Chris > Halcyan 2 [ quoted text not captured ]

> >...nobody is going to call me a fanatic collector ever again... I had to laugh at this one! Just so you know... I agree with your assessment that there is no need to collect 1st vs. 2nd printing of Sabbat War, just because they were different print runs. In fact this is why I was asking... I mean I'm not interested in the fac that some different tree was killed to make the paper for the 2nd print run, or that the inks used were from a different jar. But I was curious to know if there were any visible differences in any of the cards...and it looks like there are on a few. *These* are the ones I am interested in knowing about, and worth getting for some. It may be a screw up, but I think it just looks sharp. LD -- "The bittersweet Caress of a chill Eternity blazens my sword with dark flames of retribution." [ quoted text not captured ]

After incorporating my 1st 3 boxes of SW into my collection, I had M:TG flashbacks. I can always tell which are which because of the corner cut. It is like Magic Alpha vs. Beta. [ quoted text not captured ]
