Mask of a Thousand Faces
Cardtype: Action Modifier
Discipline: Obfuscate
[obf] Only usable by a ready, untapped vampire other than the acting
minion who is capable of performing the action. Not usable if any
action modifiers or other effects have been used that could not have
been used if this vampire were the acting vampire. Untap the acting
minion and tap this vampire instead. The action continues with this
vampire as the acting minion.
[OBF] As above, with +1 stealth.
Veil the Legions
Cardtype: Action Modifier
Discipline: Obfuscate
[obf] Only usable by a ready, untapped vampire other than the acting
minion you control. The acting minion gets +1 stealth. Only one Veil
the Legions may be played each action.
[OBF] As above, and this vampire may burn X additional blood to give
+1 stealth to the next X actions your minions perform this turn. Only
one Veil the Legions can be played at superior each turn.
Smudge is the acting minion, facing a block attempt. Agrippina plays
Veil (at either level) to grant an additional stealth. Grendel then
plays Mask (at either level, depending on whether stealth is needed)
to take over the action.
Does the action lose the stealth that the Veil granted?
An argument for "Yes" is that Veil gives the other MINION +1 stealth,
per card text on Veil (and in contrast to the text on Cloak the
Gathering) ... it does not grant the bonus to the action itself.
But a counterargument is: ... the text refers to the "acting minion"
and Grendel becomes the "acting minion" after playing Mask. If
"acting minion" were taken to mean "the minion who is currently
acting", then the +1 stealth would last the rest of the game, since no
stopping point is specified.
Any time I attempt to interpret rulings it's wrong, but I want to try
anyway.
I think the stealth from Veil still applies, as there's nothing which
prevents the Maskor from getting modified by Veil.
Reversing the order of the two modifiers is pretty clear as working,
too:
Action declared.
Block announced.
Mask played.
Second block announced.
Veil played.
That seems to all be logical to me. I don't think the order changes
things.

Mask states the action continues with the Maskor "as the acting
minion", and Veil modifies "the acting minion". That seems compatible
to me.

What? Isn't the stopping point is when the action is resolved?

Correct. The rulings page uses Backways as an example of such an effect (as says
that the effect carries over to the new actor).

Correct, as well. [6.2]
