I have a few quistions after meeting a new playgroup here in Sweden. 1. Is telepatic tracking playable after a combat ends card is played? (like majesty) 2.When exectly do you gain control of a vampire with corruption? 3. Must a vampire with Lunatic eruption attack before your other minions actions? 4.Can you chose when in the minionphase you take control over a mindraped vampire? Most people in the playgroup argues that an action that is 'forced' must be performed at first possible opportunity, is there a rule to that effect? Thanks in advance. Gerry

When you successfully play the corruption card that matches their capacity. You can only burn the counters to take control of them when you are doing the action, so you have to do it when you place the last corruption counter on them. > 3. You must do it during the minion phase by Sabbat War card text, so you have to do it before other things. > Most people in the playgroup argues that an action that is 'forced' > must be performed at first possible opportunity, is there a rule to > that effect? Actually, yes. It's not an action, so it doesn't have to be done before other actions. It's just something you have to do during your minion phase. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. [ quoted text not captured ]

Hi everyone, I seem to be confused by the people that answers the questions around here. Who's right, and who's wrong? Who is eligible to answer properly, besides LSJ??? More than a week ago, i asked a question about Lunatic Eruption and this is the answer i got: #1) > > > I have 4 vamps at full capacity. Anyone and everyone. > Who is eligible to answer properly, besides LSJ??? > Except for "Oh Mighty LSJ", who else can answer correctly? Anyone is eligible to answer correctly, but the only one whose opinion you really need to hear is L. Scott Johnson. He is the official VTES net rep for White Wolf, was the official VTES net rep for Wizards of the Coast, is the head of the Rules Team, and is the design lead for VTES with White Wolf. If you want a well thought out answer that will be passionately defended to the death, try James Coupe or Noal McDonald. They will most often be right. Not always, but most often. They have both been here for years and understand the game very well. If you want a rules quote, with a link to the previous ruling and or to the place in the rules where your question is answered, try Lasombra. I won't be answering unless I can show you where in the rules or the online rulings the answer is, so I will be right quite often as well. If you want a good answer that makes sense, but may or may not be supported by the current rules, I will recommend Gomi no Sensei and Xian. They have both put a lot of thought and effort into the game, but have not spent as much time on the nagging details of the rules. > More than a week ago, i asked a question about Lunatic Eruption and > this is the answer i got: I answered immediately with the post at the bottom. I'm often merely trying to force the game to answer to some consistency at various points, by arguing through a line of reasoning which is, to my mind, supportable. Where a counter-argument allows a loophole, I'll see what I can do with it, so that the game is logically consistent, so far as I see it. Kind of, but not quite, what LSJ was doing many years ago. (And I've only been on the group, from my own account, for about three and a half years, in mid-'97, though I did read and participate infrequently before then.) -- James Coupe | PGP Key 0x5D623D5D "It's hard to carry on when you feel all alone. You've been on here as long as I can remember, James, and you haven't taken extended leaves of absence like, oh, say...Gomi and I have. :) Then again, I *think* I've been on since...'95 or so? Of course, we can't check deja to find out, and I was using my university account up until mid-'97. Hmm. I'm not sure what my original point was...probably that I like having you and Noal, and plenty of other people on the newsgroup. Oh well. Sorry. Didn't mean to get all warm and fuzzy. Not always, but most often. >> They have both been here for years and >> understand the game very well. > > Heh. *grin* That was my reaction, too. I also recall that many of those "passionate" conversations between James and I got _very_ heated and often quite personal. Although, with the exception of Andrew's pontifications, I don't think I've gotten too terribly riled up about anything on the newsgroup in a while. (Note that this does not include the Prince mailing list.) > That's not *quite* what I try and do. Kind of, but not quite, what LSJ was doing many > years ago. *nods* I used to try to do that publicly, but some people tried to interject themself into the discussion with nothing to add because they either didn't understand the issue or just wanted to be a distraction for whatever reason. Nowadays, I have those conversations privately with LSJ as they are much more productive. As a testament to the his efforts as design lead of Sabbat War, I've had very little reason to have those conversations in quite some time. There is, of course, some issues that we don't agree on and probably never will, but those are the result of different priorities more than anything else. > (And I've only been on the group, from my own account, for about three > and a half years, in mid-'97, though I did read and participate > infrequently before then.) To be honest, I don't think I was very active on here until a few months prior to the 6/23/98 rulings. I did, however, subscribe to the VTES mailing list much earlier.
