Does Oubliette at the superior still burn blood/life if combat was ended at long range? ------------------------------- Ethan Burrow - Prince of Austin et...@ddg.com http://whitestar.ddg.com/vtes/ Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Effects associated with a Combat Ends strike happen after the combat ends [RTR 19970630], so range is irrelevant. Note that Catatonic Fear and Riposte have specific text to override this (by errata, in Riposte's case). In the absence of such text on Oubliette, its 'burn blood/life' effect at superior disregards the range at which the combat was ended. Note that this is listed in Clarification Green at the VTES site (www.white-wolf.com/vtes/rulings.html), for some reason. LSJ, have I missed something? Does the general rule of "Strikes only affect the opposing minion if at close range, barring R after damage or the word 'ranged'" stay in effect even after the combat ends? It seems to me (and I'm certainly open to error) that the concept of 'range' ceases to have meaning after combat is over, and therefore ancillary effects of Combat Ends strikes ignore range barring specific text. gomi -- "I wanted to feel that tug of a body as it jerks and kicks while I hold the handle and the life erupts from it like water from the cold springs of the Eastern Mountains. That's what I wanted, and what you want makes you who you are." - Steven Brust, Teckla
