Howdy!
This is a thread for all of us who are royally screwed and can't
attend the EC in Prague. And for those who are in attendance, have
access to the Internet and feel pity for us left behind.
So, what I want is results (winners / finalists / decks) from the 4
big constructed events held on Thursday, Friday (LCQ), Saturday (EC1)
and Sunday (EC2). As well as general rumors and other treats.
Make me feel like I'm currently enjoying a Staro in Prague instead of
sitting here.
All the best!
And good luck to everyone who's trying to qualify for and to win the
EC.
I hate that I can't be there with you... *sob*

I wish I was there too. This link: http://extrala.blogspot.com/ was
posted on #vtes.
I expect it will be updated over the weekend.

Merci Jay!
I didn't know Extrala would update the blog during the event. It's
awesome that he does.
So Khazar's Diary gets the first TW :)
Congrats Orian, you're an inspiration to us all!

It was quite an enjoyable weekend. Think it was the fastest final in
recorded history though. Two !Malks will do that though.
On a side note for those who are interested in combat, one deck did
manage to burn 37 vampires on the last day during the First Chance
Qualifier for Majorca (Mallorca?). A truly impressive numbers of ash
piles.

"Majorca" in English, and "Mallorca" in Spanish.

I take it these were not his own vamps :):) What kind of combat deck
was it?
[ quoted text not captured ]
Atoned Tariq, with one copy of every agg weapon in the game. plus
rowan ring, and a flak jacket. Every single table he had at least one
breeder, some tables he had 2....
Give that deck 1 pool per minion burnt and one has happyness!
Day one not sure, but day 2 was a guy from Slovakia called Jano with
a !Malk. the big cap bastards. Finals has a Arika deck, that from what
i could see, was packing mind rapes, baltimores, etc. He was preying
on the Slovak !Malk deck, who was preying on turbo Una, who was
preying on a !Tor weenie sleaze palla thing played by a French guy
(who has the SMOOTHEST table talk. Ever.) who was preying on !Malk 2.
Una got hurt early with Pentex, mind numb being used on the support
stars. Arika got bled hard and fast by the 1st !malk, and was down
very low when she played baltimore, after freaking from a mind rape on
one of the !malks preying on her. One of the top plays was the mind
rape victim getting torporised on a KS bleed, so Arika receives a
torporised minion, and has to send Arika to torpor. He never
recovered. Now there where 2 !Malks next to each other, the one who
ousted Arika being in a bit of trouble due to the foundation exhibit
powered Kines raining down on him. Best table talk line by the french
payer was when his Palla Grande had one counter left, and he says to
his prey (who i think was wondering if bleeding back would not useful
to cripple the !Tor deck) "See how friednly I am? I discard a Palla
grande". With a second Palla Grande in hand... Smoooth.
The Slovak !Malk quickly killed Una as there as no viable defence
there, and the !Tor killed the other !malk. Pentex then gets played by
the Jano (slovak) on Carlton, the only untapped minion the !torrie
has. He is bled down very low, and ousted the next turn. The final
took just under an hour or so i think. Due to a fifteen minute chat at
the start, actual play time was about 45 minutes.
Big woots to Jano, who I know is an awesome guy, and is gonna be
unlivable for a month or so ;) Deservedly so.
To everyone I met, my pleasure, and hope to see again. To the
Icelandic guys I played the last game at 2AM on sunday, thanks a
million for that game :) You know why!
PS someone lent me a narrow minds that I did not return,. please be so
kind as to email your adrees so I can mail it to you? thanks!

Tariq Eats World. Played by Peter Ducai from Slovakia. From what I've
seen at my table, he was my predator and ate like 6 or so of my
minions, he was not using Rowan Ring, just the agg weapons. The rumors
said he had 16 Amranths in his deck.
[ quoted text not captured ]
No, sorry not. And it was not eat the world. it was more tariq blocks
the world. With the amount of 1,2,3,4 and 5 cap decks floating about,a
n atoned tariq was a nightmare. And it is not 16. more like 24
[ quoted text not captured ]
The Arika deck was played by Erik Torstensson from Sweden.
And if there only was 1 French guy in the finals then the !tor Swarm
was played by Pierre Tran-Van ("Stone").
At least according to my sources :)
Who played the Unsa deck and the second !malk deck?
What happened during day 1?
Which 40 players played during day 2?
TWD's?
Regards
Alex
[ quoted text not captured ]
Not many, maybe one or two. But he was beyond caring at that point I
think. He just wanted to hurt all the weenie breed sleaze...
Seriously, every table I sat down had a minimum of 1, usually 2, once
4 breed flippin decks. So I can understand his irritation.

How did the victim go to torpor? Blocking a bleed and then Coma or
something like that? The minion shouldn't untap as usual given Mind
Rape's text, right?
Also, Baltimore Purge happens during untap, and Mind Rape control
happens during Minion Phase, so it seems like it shouldn't matter
anyway... Maybe I'm missing something.

Thanks Karel.
I'm very happy to see the good results some of my friends got.
Will there be TWD's soon? (and decks for the other finalists of
course)
I would also love to see a list of the 40 players who made day 2.

Yes, Karol (EC judge) working on it and should be prepared on Wed. I
hope we will have by Wed all finalist's decks too.
Cheers

Baltimore Purge played by Arika. No Lasombra, so each player chose his or her
own victim. This player chose his Mind Raped vampire, naturally.

Baltimore Purge and Mind Rape were played on the previous turn and then (on the
next turn), Purge goes off during the untap phase (sending Arika and the
still-tapped target of the Mind Rape to torpor). Then the Mind Rape goes off.

I'll second that. The whole weekend (VTES events, hotel, meals, sightseeing)
went very smoothly. Kudos for the efforts of all the organizers.
On top of that, let me add, the spectators of all the final rounds I observed
(LCQ, EC Day1, EC Day2, and FCQ) were extremely quiet during final round play,
which is very appreciated. So thanks to you guys, too.
[ quoted text not captured ]
Indeed.
Also of note to mention was the VERY nice starting time of 13:00,
leaving ample time for more alcohol consuming minded folks to get
their groove on in time for the games. So to speak.
Everything ran smooth as a clockwork.
And the place of the welcoming party, splendid choice.
Not a thing to complain. Well done.
PS: Arthur, your tears... :)
-Otto
[ quoted text not captured ]
I'm not sure I want to remember everything from the welcoming party.
Atleast I know I was totally wasted with Oko. And I also remember
being more wasted later on, and telling LSJ in a completely drunken
english, that how good Loss is, and I want to thank the design team
for that xD
But yes, the place where the party was, was very nice. Nice beer, nice
food, and the atmosphere was nice too. If there would be one thing to
complain, was that the toilets were upstairs. I'm not used to walk up
to get to toilets, and getting down those stairs when drunk was...
Interesting :)

That's absolutely true...
all those weennie deck madness pissed me off so i have decided at the
morning before FCQ to build up anti weennie killing machine.
orriginaly i played 20 amaranths. now after the tournament i ahve
little bit rebuilded the deck as i didn't have enough cards with me on
EC so i have builded it only from "half trash" bought on place when i
was missing most of the cards that i will play in normal situation. if
there is anybody interested here is rebuiled deck list. it's not as
big killing machine but with some improvement (neccesary to replace
soem cards and add some bleed cards - tasha, simons, camera phones) it
will be able to go forward as well. i'm just preparing another version
with masks of thousand faces (you can freak drive after them). tell me
juts who will be risking to block if that can be hidden tariq.

Was a fun EC; the organizers did good, the place (christened "Khobar
Towers" by Team Finland early on :) wasn't luxurious in any way but
was well suited to the job, and I had a lot of fun in all the games I
played -- even in the ones where I got turbo-ousted by !Malks :). No
tense tables this year for me, everyone was pleasant and
sportsmanlike, very nice.
I played Settite + Baali Mute vote in the last chance tournament, a !
Tor + Daughters tap&bleed affair in EC day1, and an Osebo intercept
toolbox in the first chance tournament. None of them worked all that
well in those environments, only got some spare VPs and no game wins.
Oh well.
*Tons* of weenie decks this year, as noted by others too.
Extra thanks to Karel, Martin & Martina (assuming that's how the names
are spelled :) for organizing a very nice city tour for us before the
welcome party. Was much appreciated!
My only negative for the trip is the fact that I caught a flu+fever
combo near the end of the EC; floating around Sunday & Monday with a
mix of fever, sleep deprivation and alcohol made for some surreality,
especially when trying to play in the Sunday side tournament :/.

Is this the one I had preying on me on the Sunday where I burnt the Ivory
Bow right at the beginning of the game so that it stalled for ages..? ;)

That was Stone. I especially liked the "I'm not interested in
having beer so soon" line. :)

Nah, I think the best line was when he told his predator that he was
friendly, "See, I discard Palla Grande" while the one in play had one
counter left. Obviously he still had one in hand....

Bah. Parthenon + Anthelios if he needed to.
I didn't see his hand, but I totally knew that Jan had a Wash when
Stone played the Last Stand. :)
