Hy, some questions: #1 Can Vampires in torpor use their special abilities ? Say, a torporous Quentin may burn a blood to cancel a vampire's vote(s)? #2 Can leather jacket be used outside combat? Say, Vamp A vs Minion B, range is close. Vamp A ends combat with a superior catatonic fear; can minion B burn his leather jacket to prevent the damage (which occours *after* combat) from CF ? Thanks in advance Emiliano, Prince of Rome

[LSJ 27-NOV-2000] Aha! So there *IS* a way to prevent damage outside of combat. Though there are a lot of restrictions on it of course but still... Halcyan 2

Why would a vampire in torpor be able to do anything? (Or am I thinking of being in torpor as being closer to dead than it really is?) Besides, if Ankla Hotep's card text didn't apply in torpor, it wouldn't be very interesting. [ quoted text not captured ]

Why the designers, originally, didn't limit it in this fashion is a question you would have to ask them. The rules do not prevent a vampire in torpor from using their ability as they currently stand. There has been no pressing need - from abuse of the situation - to alter this with a rules change at any point, and it is rare for rules to be altered "just because", or somesuch. -- James Coupe PGP Key: 0x5D623D5D EBD690ECD7A1F What's the meaning when you speak with so much feeling? I'm asking why it is this way, not that it is wrong or needs to be changed or whatever. It never occurred to try to use the special ability of a vampire in torpor. It wasn't obvious to me, and apparently, not to others either as I haven't seen it done by others. [ quoted text not captured ]

It is this way because it is more convenient to write "ready" when that is required than to write "even in torpor" (or "ready or not") when being ready is not required. [ quoted text not captured ]
