It appears that the Shadow Court Satyr's text has changed in
3E, and I'm not sure if this is a functional change or not.
===
When the Satyr enters play, you may put a combat card from your
hand on him. Once each combat, the Satyr may use the ability of
that card as if played from your hand. If the card requires a
vampire (e.g., costs blood or requires a Discipline), he may
use it as a vampire with the basic level of the Discipline
(if any).
===
Old text only referred to cards requiring a *Discipline*.
So, under the new wording, does this mean:
a) Shadow Court Satyr can use a non-discipline combat card
that requires a vampire? (i.e. Taste of Vitae)
a) Shadow Court Satyr can use a non-discipline combat card
that has a blood cost? (i.e. Tortured Confession)
b) Shadow Court Satyr can use a combat card that requires a
clan? (i.e. Raking Talons)
BONUS QUESTION:
c) In a Limited format, can Shadow Court Satyr use draftferiors
on combat cards (as long as the draftferior meets the above
requirements)?

...yes, I repeated "a" on purpose because it's kinda
the same question. :)

These two a)'s are the same question, and are answered by card text in
the affirmative.

No. Card text allows Disipline mimicking, but not clan, title,
capacity, or other attribute (like Anarchness) mimicking.

The question is: "Can draftferior abilities be used in limited format?"
The answer is inescapable.

Totally amusing! LOL :)

To follow up on Shadow Court Satyr wording... does the "once each
combat" wording apply only to a combat the SCS is IN? i.e. if I have a
handful of SCS each with heaven's gate, which is usable by a vampire
outside of combat, can the SCS's "Heaven's Gate" each other once per
combat (either at nec or obe) from outside of the combat, potentially
leading to a SCS playing heaven's gate mutiple times in a turn, but
only once per each combat.
Heaven's Gate
Only usable by a ready untapped vampire not involved in combat.
[nec] Prevent 1 damage to an ally in combat.
[obe] Only usable when an ally is burned in combat. Move that ally to
his or her controller's uncontrolled region (controlled, but not ready)
instead. Put 1 life on the ally from the blood bank if he or she has no
life.
[OBE] As [obe] above, but add up to 2 life to the ally, not to exceed
his or her starting amount.
Thanks,
Chris

Darn it, I searched on LSJ rulings on this card from the Monger link
and it includes the "(changeling)" in the search parameter so this one
didn't come up. Guess I better construct my searches by hand...
Thanks for the speedy reply,

Nah, I just needed to know it was an issue.
I updated Monger so that the search buttons no longer include the
parenthesis text in the title of the card. This affects most of the
ally/retainer cards as well as the pentex cards, which people really
didn't use the parenthesis text for anyways.
