Kiss of Ra question

We had a situation this weekend over the superior version of this card. Basically the card says something like The action is block. The blocking minion takes 2points. Superior: As above. The blocker goes to Torpor. Question. Using the superior version, does the blocker go to torpor immediately without entering combat or does he/she goes to torpor after the combat ends? Silly question, but my guys insists that because the action is blocked, the blocking takes precedence and combat continues as usual. Thanks. Cheers George

George Tran <gt...@symantec.com> writes: [ quoted text not captured ] Yes, no combat. Kiss of Ra is played (as all action modifiers are) before combat. Since the superior sends the blocker to torpor, and combat cannot occur with a vampire in torpor, combat doesn't occur. The blocker simply goes to torpor (minus two blood), and the acting vampire is left tapped (minus the three blood cost of Ra, but without paying any cost associated with the action because the action was blocked.) The action is over, and unsuccessful. -- L. Scott Johnson (sjoh...@math.sc.edu) | "Criminal Lawyer" is redundant. http://www.math.sc.edu/~sjohnson | Graphics Specialist and V:tES Rulemonger. |

Thus there is no combat. If combat was intended it should have read goes to topor after combat.

It says "the ACTION is now blocked". As we have interpreted it, the action just does not occur. Both vampires are tapped. Its a way to evade combat. If you could go into combat, it would have said "As above, and blocking vampire goes into torpor at the end of combat." And it would have said in first place "the VAMPIRE is now blocked".
