Advanced vampires: keep same disciplines

i was having a discussion with my housemate last night about merged vampires, and how they have the disciplines, capacity, etc of the advanced vampire, but keep all the cards and counters of the origional vampire. Now, let's suppose adv Tusk has superior POT. you have Olde Skool Tusk in play. You play a master:pot on him, to give him POT. Now, you pay one to bring one up (instead of 'paying one to bring one down', as we call getting a new vamp from the crypt around here) and merge Tusk with the adv Tusk you had in your uncontrolled region. The merged vamp has the disciplines of the adv vamp, so POT. but they also keep cards on the origional vampire, in this case the master:pot. Now we have a POT vamp with a POT skill card on it. raising it's pot from 2 to 3. (by the fancy 'levels' of discipline introcduced to handle nightmares with vial of elder vitae and sanguine instruction, etc). having level 3 pot has no meaning. so, obviously, the world implodes. By this reasoning i will declare the following: Advanced vampires will not have different disciplines to their regular counterparts. If i am wrong let's hope some designer worked out how to make it work, without the world imploding. salem.

I already asked LSJ about this last week. As he rightly pointed out, the result is similar to using the Master Discipline and then equiping with the Hand of Conrad. The world doesn't implode, the master discipline card simply becomes partially redundant (the capacity increase remains in effect). Flux

I'm guessing that a), mainly because the capacity of the basic vampire is ignored anyway, but I could be wrong....

So does the Master: Discipline card raise the capacity of the new and merged vamipire, despite the fact that the discipline is now at the superior level (and stays there?) Yes, just as it continues to raise the capacity of a vampire who equips with a Hand of Conrad, despite the fact that the Discipline is now at the superior level (and stays there). -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc.
