Block Master Cards?

My roommate and I just started playing Jyhad and we have encountered one major problem. Can you block another player's master card? Our specific problem has been with Misdirection (Tap X Minions). Usually this comes up close to the end of the game and it results in a very quick end. Any help or suggestions for countering this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

[ quoted text not captured ] Peace, The only way to "block" a Master card is with the Master card Sudden Reversal. Yes, being Misdirected can be a big problem and a quick end to a game. Keep a Wake or two handy. Nil carborundum illigitimi, James R. McClure Jr. The OS/2 Apostle <insert disclaimer here>

Yes, master cards can be "blocked", so to speak. Sudden reversal has pissed off many an opponant when I have played it just when they think they can catch me with my pants down with something like Misdirection. Also, keeping a couple of Wake With Evenings Fresheness and/or Rats Warning and Cats Guidance if you have those disciplines, is another good defense against that.

[ quoted text not captured ] The card you're thinking of is Sudden Reversal, although you can also use Wake with Evening's Freshness, and 2nd Tradition: Domain (for Princes & Justicars) to untap and block ***Guy***

Can you block another player's master card? Speaking of blocking master cards, heres a question. One of the other players in a game called a vote with a Brujah. Nobody blocked, so I played Burjah frenzy, hoping to pit him against my predator. He played Change of Target, which allows one to undo a blocked action. Is this legal? A reaction card canceling a master card? If so, what happens to the vote card? Change of target says they can't perform the same action. Could they call a differnt vote, or they can call votes at all?

AFAIK: The playing of the Change of Target was perfectly legal (and a good move!) on the part of the Brujah player. The original Vote card and the Brujah friendly go to their owner's ash heaps. The CoT did not counter the master card any more than it would have countered any enhanced intercept you may have played - it just rescinded the action. You still lose your next Master phase though, because you played a MOOT card. As far as calling another vote, I say no. Had they been trying to equip with a shotgun, they could not then try and re-equip with a .44, as those are the same action (Equip Minion). I see this as an analogous case - the action they were performing was 'Call Vote' so they cannot then call another vote as their next action after the CoT. Equip with a Shotgun is a different action than equip with a .44. Calling a vote is specific to the vote called. Another vote may be called by the same minion after CoT.

[ quoted text not captured ] Actually, Change of Target is an Action Modifier, not a Reaction, so it is legal to play it in a situation where a minion is calling a vote and gets blocked. However, Brujah Frenzy adds the kicker that the acting Brujah *must* go into combat, so I'd say that he can't get off the hook by playing Change of Target. Brujah Frenzy would also stop him from using stealth cards to keep from being blocked (not that Brujah are likely to be able to increase their stealth anyway). In a situation where a vote is blocked, the vote card goes to the ash heap. If the acting minion plays Change of Target after being blocked, it could call another vote, but not with a voting card identical to the one that was discarded. Pat O'Malley oma...@convex.com

But now each political action is considered different action if the card is not the same, and Change of Target works fine.
