Chantry reads 'A tremere leaves torpor'
Now there either is a 'you control' lacking in between there, or the card
is quite funny if more then one player is using tremere in a game :P
Basically I've been wondering for quite a few years what the card is
supposed to do.
Rescue any Tremere, even if you do not control them, or just your own?
(Either way it's still a good card though)

Latest card text reads:
"Master: unique location. During your master phase, you may tap this
card and burn 1 pool or 1 blood from any ready Tremere you control to
move any Tremere from torpor to his or her controller's ready region."

What do you want the card to say?
I mean, doesn't your playgroup have a complete index of rulings on
Jyhad cards according to how you think the cards should operate in the
RPG? Fill in the blanks. Play it however you want.
Alternatively you could look at http://www.white-wolf.com, which has
complete errata, rulings, and clarifications for every card printed in
the game since 1994.

Hmm, seems like many card text migrations do not make it to the card text
migrations webpage...
This changed text obviously makes it a choice, rather than a mandatory
effect. This makes Chantry even stronger then I figured.
Oh well, I'll spread the word in our group.

In 1994/1995, all locations were optional by default.

My question was quite clear. I wanted to know what it was supposed to do.
Our group has been playing the card as a mandatory effect on any Tremere
in torpor for quite a while, but since we are in the process of adapting
to the official rules we need to know the official take on things.

I assumed the 'card text migrations' page would contain all migrations. It
appears I assumed wrong there. It will be a painstaking task to go
through all current cardtext to see what they have missed I guess. Maybe
some day.

It contains only the functional changes. It contains all of the
functional changes, AFAIK.
If any omissions are found, please let me know.

By what rule? I see nothing of the sorts in my Jyhad rulebook (which
is pretty much useless by now of course) with a quick scan.

Well, in the case of Chantry I suppose he has a point. The VTES/Jyhad
versions doesn't require you to tap it, which doesn't make a difference
currently since there's no card to tap it with during the owners master
phase. It also says "a Tremere leaves torpor" implying it's mandatory.
Finally, it kinda suggests you can use it for multiple Tremere during
the same master phase, which I realize is not possible due to the
"during x do y" rule, but still...

Umm, right.
That was the point of "functional".
If the change wasn't functional, the change isn't listed.

Well, technically, having the Chantry tap for its effect instead of just
being written "during X do Y" is a change in the function. It will
almost never matter, but if, for example, Succubus Club is used to give
control of the Chantry to a different Methuselah, the new controller
can't use it if it's still tapped from its last use (while it would have
been usable with the Jyhad wording).

Has "X is broken!" become a meme? I've noticed that it's popped up a
lot here in Chicago, but thought it was just a localized thing...

Whenever someone manages to use some card in a useful (winning) way by
thinking of the right combo someone will probably yell about a card
in the combo being broken.
It's part of CCG tradition.

We totally started it in DC. "Colin is broken" began a long-standing
tradition of brokenness here. :-) (And for that matter, "sevens are
broken" is something you might hear in a local poker game, hehehe.)
