I have a question about the effect of Taste of Vitae in relation to additional strikes. I believe the answer is implied in the ruling cited below, but I'll ask it explicitly to be sure. If Taste of Vitae is played after additional strikes, does the Tasting minion gain the total blood lost by its opponent to all strikes during that round? A Yep. We've been saying "I have nothing to play before range" for quite some time now. If any of these other timing stages start getting used frequently, we may have to declare more of them. > friend and I were trying to figure out how many phases of combat there > were in one round of combat. Damage Prevention These operate slightly differently than two distinct steps, but this is good enough for this list. 9. Heal Damage/Prevent Destruction (preventing damage is done only in step 8). If unreadied (burned/torpored), go to 21. 9a. Post-strike (Taste of Vitae) > 10. Additional Strike #1 > 11. Strike Resolution > 12. Damage Prevention > 13. Additional Strike #2 > 14. Relevant card text: This vampire gains an amount of blood equal to the amount lost by the opposing vampire to damage during this round of combat. Online Card Text here : http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/Cardlist.html Taste of Vitae [Jyhad, V:TES, SW] Cardtype: Combat Only usable after strike resolution. This vampire gains an amount of blood equal to the amount lost by the opposing vampire to damage during this round of combat. Not usable by a vampire going into torpor. Blood loss counted by a previous Taste of Vitae is not counted again. Carpe noctem. Lasombra http://www.TheLasombra.com -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG

Yes. Current Taste of Vitae cardtext (from the Sabbat War printing): "Only usable after strike resolution. This vampire gains an amount of blood equal to the amount lost by the opposing vampire to damage during this round of combat. Not usable by a vampire going into torpor. Blood loss counted by a previous Taste of Vitae is not counted again." You can play it after any strike resolution in a round, and it'll count all the damage-blood-loss the opposing vampire has had up to that point (as long as it hasn't been counted by an earlier Taste - multiple Tastes the same round are fine, you just don't get any double-counted benefits). [ quoted text not captured ] What change? Neither BtW or IG areplayable at long, so how can they be played before range is determined.
