I do have some questions about the state and organization of V:EKN. This is from http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/index.php?line=vekn I assume the source is still correct. >The V:EKN Administrative Board known as the Inner Circle consists of >the following members: >Robert Goudie, Chairman What is the function of the chairman? >LSJ, Rules Librarian Rules Librarian = Rules Team? This is for maintaining the V:EKN tournament rules I suppose? Also for the list of errata and so on or is that property of White Wolf? >Membership Director Is this position vacant or is it Oscar? >Robyn Tatu, Ratings Coordinator >Peter Bakija, Clan Newsletter Editor Pretty obvious, no questions :) Also what kind of organization is V:EKN? It seems to be a free-form thing to me, not related to White Wolf directly nor a really public thing. Who is determining the structure of the V:EKN and who is assigning board members? -- Johannes Walch

Fair question Johannes. In light of the recent WW open letter, I wonder if they'll be interested in taking a more involved position? Whether this is a good thing or not is down to your opinion of WW control/involvement, and how much leeway will be accorded the non-WW involvement, I suppose.

Updated. Robert stepped down. So now I fill that role. The function: oversee the V:EKN. > >LSJ, Rules Librarian > > Rules Librarian = Rules Team? > This is for maintaining the V:EKN tournament rules I suppose? > Also for the list of errata and so on or is that property of White Wolf? The rules librarian just collates and disseminates the rules. That position is now folded into the chairman position. > >Membership Director > > Is this position vacant or is it Oscar? Oscar for now. The email, vtessupport, will always be redirected to the current director. > >Robyn Tatu, Ratings Coordinator > >Peter Bakija, Clan Newsletter Editor > > Pretty obvious, no questions :) > > Also what kind of organization is V:EKN? It's White Wolf's tournament organization.

So as far as I can see there are you (LSJ) taking care of all rules-related stuff and overseeing the overall operations, Robyn entering and maintaining ratings and Peter who is maintaining the Newsletters. When I read "What is V:EKN" this paragraph stands out to me: "Vampire: Elder Kindred NetworkTM is the Official V:TES Players' Organization dedicated to the continued health of V:TES. The V:EKN endeavors to help V:TES grow in popularity through the embracing of new players as well as through the support of the existing fans." I wonder what are the positions and people as well as mechanices to help V:TES grow in popularity through the embracing of new players. I mean maintaining rules and rating is basic stuff but it doesn´t exactly embrace new players. Shouldn´t there be extra positions for that? -- Johannes Walch

Presumably not often directly but rather by working with the various local enthusiasts (princes). -Robert

[ quoted text not captured ] In the past, the VEKN was an organisation run completely by volunteers (i.e. the players themselves ran it). It was founded back in the days when WotC stopped its commitment to VTES. As WW took over, the VEKN kinda made a slow transition to a company- controlled entitity. In the times when there was still a membership director, he actively encouraged players to become princes. Things change, and IMO, the VEKN serves a completely different role than back in the old days.
