if I am understanding this thread correctly http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/browse_frm/thread/4f2717185a16ff08/8a153cddd5c6cdfa?lnk=st&q=&rnum=4&hl=en#8a153cddd5c6cdfa then Ghoul Retainer can use Rowan Ring in combat to send the opposing vampire to torpor, is this correct interpretation? the reason I ask is because the 'Yes' in the reply could potentially apply to the 'No' in the 'I would tend to say no since the Ghoul Retainer is not striking...' speculation following the question but not the question itself.

The bit that follows the "Yes" should help clear that up.
