What is the timing on a Methuselah being ousted? This came up in a game. My prey had one pool. I put Aching Beauty on Anson and bled him. He blocked with Thomas Thorne, and lost his last pool. Now, do Anson and Thorne fight a round, or does Thorne instantly go *poof*?

It would occur after your Prey is ousted, so therefore does not occur. Related question: if I've been stealing your equipment with Fast Hands, your vampires with Grave Robbing, and your locations with [I forget the vote card which does this], your retainers and allies with Far Mastery, do any or all of these things disappear from under my control and into the ash heap when you get ousted? I say they shouldn't, because they are actual artifacts which have just been wrested from your control, not manifestations of your personal being which are dependent on your well-being to exist, but let's hear what the Rules Primogens say. Thanks. The rules are pretty explicit on that point. All cards that a Methuselah started the game with are removed from play the moment she is ousted. Any remaining cards under her control (stolen from other Methuselahs) are burned. Sensible house rule among friends is to leave the stolen permanents in play until the controller (whoever it may be) is ousted, then returned to the original owner. Our group plays that way. But it wouldn't work very well in a tourney format anyhow - where losers are apt to leave the area in search of other things to do. [ quoted text not captured ]

Does *anyone* : on this newsgroup outside of WotC employees play with the official : interpretation? Our group plays it that way, when we play it at all. Our consensus is this (and I have no proof, so please don't ask for any); - The card _was_ originally intended to hose the dealer - The choice of Rotschreck as a name was a bad one, probably made by someone who didn't know V:TM as well as they should have - The 'hose dealer' rule is the only one that makes sense; why put the vampire in torpor when they were going to torpor anyway? (Note: this is under the Jyhad rules - the card can be played to good use upon one's own vampire under the new agg.dam rules for VTES) - It was probably never meant to work vs. Basilia, but rather against any _card_ that granted agg.dam (just a feeling).
