Hello fellow Undead, some questions arose late last night: Situation: Agrippina had a good time bleeding with a laptop and Tasha. Also, the Rack was played on her. On his Turn, the Master of Ventrues called a Justicar Retribution against her. - Is she a legal target since the use of equipment is optional? Or does the laptop count for this purpose? - If she is burned, what about the Rack - can the Meth possessing it simply transfer it to another Vampire? If not, can one of the minions of the Racks controller steal it? Or is it simply inert until stolen by another Meth's minion? On Fata Morgana: Can a Vampire who is bleeding use superior Fata Morgana (+1 stealth and +1 bleed) on a bleed that is not blocked? (To gain the +1 bleed, obviously) Thanks in advance! Damfine question: intuitively I would say she is safe, but an official ruling will probably be needed. : - If she is burned, what about the Rack - can the Meth possessing it : simply transfer it to another Vampire? If she is burned, Rhe Rack hangs there until someone seized control of it again. (This is answered in Scott Johnson's Card Errata Compendium.) : On Fata Morgana: : Can a Vampire who is bleeding use superior Fata Morgana (+1 stealth : and +1 bleed) on a bleed that is not blocked? (To gain the +1 bleed, : obviously) Based on the official ruling for 2nd Tradition (which states that you cannot use the untap portion unless you also need the +2 intercept portion of the card) I am guessing that the official answer is no. Since you are not in need of the +1 stealth aspect of the card, you cannot use the +1 bleed enhancer. Shane H.W. Or >does the laptop count for this purpose? Since the RT says all equipment is always optional, I'd say Agrippina isn't a legal target, unless you "choose" to have her be a target (yeah, right). >- If she is burned, what about the Rack - can the Meth possessing it >simply transfer it to another Vampire? If not, can one of the minions >of the Racks controller steal it? Or is it simply inert until stolen >by another Meth's minion? If the target of the Rack is burned by any means, the Rack remains inert until stolen by another Methuselah. You cannot steal it yourself, nor simply point it at a different vampire. >On Fata Morgana: >Can a Vampire who is bleeding use superior Fata Morgana (+1 stealth >and +1 bleed) on a bleed that is not blocked? (To gain the +1 bleed, >obviously) Nope, you can't officially play stealth that you don't need. (You couldn't play superior Bonding in this instance, either, which is the same effect). >Happy Sucking! ;-) -- L. Why is that? You stated explicitly that "all equipment is always optional" back when Jyhad was the only game around. Has this changed? An optional "+1 Bleed" still seems like it can get around Justicar Ret., no matter which text you use. Are you guys rolling back all of the Jyhad rulings to their original (possibly broken) state just to make VtES look better on purpose? [ quoted text not captured ]

As of VTES, bleed-enhancing permanents typically only apply during a bleed action. So for example, Justicar Retribution won't count a laptop, since the minion possessing it isn't bleeding at the time. What happens with a Jyhad laptop depends on whether you're playing with the updated card texts or not. This seems to apply to both Bonding and Fata Morgana, especially since it was a bleed. Now I remember reading somewhere on this group that bonding can only be played during a bleed action. If this ruling applies to F.M and the FAQ above still applies then F.M. still could be played to increase the bleed. Tom, you had a hand in the FAQ above, if you see this could you clarify? The FAQs found on most archive sites are quite old; there has not been a FAQ put out about Jyhad/VTES for quite some time. L.Scott does a good job of keeping track of all the current rulings, and posts them to this newsgroup twice a month - your best bet for rulings is to look there. [ quoted text not captured ]
