JYHAD: What good is Rev. of Fortune?

My friends and I all agreed to purchase 1 starter and 2 Boosters of Jyhad each, and limit ourselves to this amount so we wouldn't get into the sort of escalation we did with MTG. In my starter, I got only 15 Vampires - in place of one of them was the political card Reversal of Fortune (Call a vote - if it passes then direction of play reverses, but Prey is still to the left.) Perhaps I'm missing something obvious, but other than using this card for an extra vote in a different political action, I can find no use for this card! All it seems to do is give my Predator two successive turns in which to beat on me. Since we are only trading amongst ourselves, I must either find a use for this card or find some way to make it attractive to someone else. So far, nobody else in our group can see any use for it either. Is there someone out there wiser, more devious or more able to see the obvious than I who can help? If they've been left open to their predator for some reason, and you'd really rather not deal with their predator quite just yet, reverse the flow of play, and your predator will get a chance to defend themselves since they'll be untapping and taking their turn first. Much like the +1 stealth on many action cards can only be used to grant stealth for the action the card calls for....To get +1 stealth to, say a minion's hunt or to add to some other action, you must use one of the cards which states simply +1 stealth or grant +1 stealth. As to what use you may have for Reversal of fortune...It doesn't have much power in a three-person game, however in games with four or more the use becomes appearant....If you use the card successfully and change the direction of play with your last minion's action, you have effectively blocked your prey from taking his turn until all the other methusalah go again. A hunter of one player and the prey of that player if working together using Reversals of Fortune could effectively shut out the player in between them by reversing play on their respective turns, thus never allowing the Methusalah between them have an action....Hmmmm I suppose this COULD be used in a three-player game...so long as you don't mind your friend wanting to kill you when the game is over...:) lpoindex@starbase.neosoft.com

So if your prey is causing a lot of trouble for the other players, they may all agree to wallop your prey a second time before the prey has a chance to act. Does this help? --

Also if he blocks his Minions will remain tapped ubtil after his prey has playedThus giving direct actions (those that can be played by anyone) a better chance to succeed. I know how I would use that card but it is difficult to explain it right. BTW as far as I know all the starter decks only have a max of 15 vammpires. Since the minimum to play is 12 you have three you could remove I know locally noone has had more than 6 come into play. Just my 1/2 cents worth raven@lakes.trenton.sc.us

The guy before me wrote: ...One you cannot use the card as a vote in another political action, [End quote] Where you been? You may give up your vote cards that say "Worth 1 vote" in _any_ polital action as a vote. But that is all it counts for, a vote, nothing more. If someone called a vote for some card, and I had a hand full of 6 other political vote cards that read "worth 1 vote", I may burn them ALL as 6 votes. Unless of course someone completely rewrote the rules in the past few days, in which it would also terribly make the game rather dull for politics. -- boardman@cs.wisc.edu :::: :::: :: :: : :

Thing is, the above described stricture also applies to _ME_. Since direction is reversed, I too (as do all others) now go before my Predator and will suffer the consequences - not only that, but my predator gets to take advantage of the situation long before I do. It seems to me that this card would make people play much more defensively, knowing that their Predator has the next turn. Everything is exactly the same as if he went before you (any Vampires you tap will still be tapped in either case) but knowing that he goes _right_away_ somehow seems more threatening than knowing he will come after you after several others have gone first.... More a psychological trick than anything, and still not seemingly worth taking up the space in your hand or the deck. : BTW as far as I know all the starter decks only have a max of 15 vampires. Two friends opened their starters in front of me, and each got 16 Vampires in theirs. Heard about someone only getting 13 and 3 'special' Political Vote cards. If all his cards are tapped, then it's a high probability speculation that many of them got that way by attacking/blocking my Vampires or generally messing me up somehow. I just hope he's not an ingrate.... :-) Shane Travis | "I may not be perfect, sht123@herald.usask.ca | but parts of me are excellent." Saskatoon, Saskatchewan | - Ashleigh Brilliant

Sorry Leo, you're wrong. The political cards may be burned for the votes on them duirng any political action. Actually, the card is neat because the art is so spiffy. But I must admit that's a biased opnion.

The rules state that you can burn political cards for an extra vote. --- @cyberia.ersys.edmonton.ab.ca (USENet) Cyberia BBS, Sherwood Pk, AB, CAN. (403)464-5479 VirtualNet: 1403009
