Do you know if there is any legal way to discard/burn an
equipement card during your turn (and I don't mean having
another minion "equip" it)?

I would assume that as in Magic, you can't burn your cards in play
"just because", though you could arrange to get rid of equipment
indirectly, for example by bringing it into contention and dropping
both copies, calling for a Peace Treaty and not paying for your
weapons, etc.
