Say my vamp (Marianna Gilbert) has the retainer ghoul (ghoul retainer? ghoul bodyguard?) that can use a weapon, but, is in close range combat with an opponent who has played Immortal Grapple. Now, say Marianna had equipped with a gun earlier in the game. While the potence/grapple machine is beating the stuffing out of her, can her ghoul still use the gun? Or, any weapon at that rate? You may want to wait for LSJ to "officialize" this, but I'm pretty sure that the Ghoul Retainer can only use weapons that the vampire could ordinarily use (and just didn't). So, if you have two guns, you can shoot one while the ghoul shoots the other. But, under Immortal Grapple, you can't shoot the gun, so neither can your little friend. :) James -- James Hamblin ham...@math.wisc.edu

The Ghoul Retainer can use a weapon if one exists, otherwise it does 1 damage to the oppossing minion during strike resolution. The IG is irrelevant because its text doesn't prohibit retainers from using weapons. > Now, say Marianna had equipped with a gun earlier in the game. The only exception would be if Marianna used the gun for a manuever but a manuever back to close was played followed by an IG. In this case Marianna is committed to using the gun (even though IG prohibits her from using it for a strike) and the Ghoul can't use it. -Robert Robert Goudie rrgo...@earthlink.net http://madnessnetwork.hexagon.net

But, under Immortal > Grapple, you can't shoot the gun, so neither can your little friend. :) Nah - card text doesn't say anything about the weapon being able to be used by the Ghoul's employer (just that it is not being used by the employer). This may be counterintuitive, but we know what that's worth, right? :-) The Ghoul is "using" the weapon (but not striking with it), so some cards (like Sawed Off Shotgun) which can only be "used" once per combat work intuitively even when a Ghoul gets in the picture. But other times, well... [ quoted text not captured ]
