Folks: Fake Out says "Strike: use your hand or melee weapon at +1 damage". Nephandus natively does 1R damage. If at long range, could Nephandus use Fake Out and to do 2 damage? Or would he only do 1? Succubus does 1 aggravated damage. If she struck with Fake Out, would she do 2 aggravated damage?? Hand Strike: any non-ranged, non-weapon strike that deals damage based on the striking minion's hand damage, or any minion's non-ranged damage-dealing innate strike. [LSJ 19970224] This suggests her 1 aggravated damage is a hand strike, but not hand damag. So I would have to say she deals one non-aggravated damage when playing Lucky Blow. -- James Coupe | PGP Key 0x5D623D5D "But I don't have the right to be with you tonight, so please leave me alone with no saviour in sight. Correct. The current rules use the term "strength" instead of "hand damage" to distinguish between the amount of damage done by a (default) hand strike and the type of damage done by (any) hand strike. Of course, since the printed cards all still use "hand damage" for this concept, ... > > If at long range, could Nephandus > > use Fake Out and to do 2 damage? [LSJ 19970224] > > This suggests her 1 aggravated damage is a hand strike, but not hand > damage. Damage from a hand strike is "hand damage", by definition. Her default strike deals one aggravated damage, which satisfies the description of hand strike, above, so her default strike is a hand strike (and the type of damage it deals is hand damage). > So I would have to say she deals one non-aggravated damage > when playing Lucky Blow. With Lucky Blow she would deal "strength"+1, or 2, damage. All of that damage would be aggravated: Additional damage inherits all of the properties of the base damage (So the +1 damage from lucky blow is aggravated for Basilia). [RTR] The "official" card text (from the rulemonger site) makes this combo a little clearer: Succubus Cardtype: Ally Clan: Tremere Antitribu Cost: 4 pool Ally with 3 life. 1 <strength>, aggravated <hand> damage, 0 bleed. As a +1 stealth (D) action, Succubus may remove 1 blood from a vampire or 1 life from an ally to gain 1 life. Once each turn, she may burn 1 life to get +1 bleed. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) VTES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. Although, Nephandus wouldn't actually successfully inflict the 1 damage since Lucky Blow isn't a long range strike. Just my two cents. Justicar. [ quoted text not captured ]
