LSJ: My 2 cents on Camarilla Edition

My CE thoughts (for any who are interested): As far as I can judge the Camarilla Edition today (which is not too far), I would say that there has gone a lot of thought into reprints of cards (see Derange, 2nd Trad.). For my taste, the change of Layout was unnecessary and does not improve table overview (at least not to a radius more than 50 cm). Cards are recognized by their pictures. That is the way it was and that is the way that will be (IMHO). Making the pictures smaller are not a good way considering the above. Adding the green bar to library cards is in itself not new, as the left side of a card did already include the same information it includes now (just not in green). In general green proves to be a difficult colour when it comes to aesthetic matching with other colours. IMHO beginners won´t benefit from larger discipline symbols, because they are generally unfamiliar with the symbols and additional card text, so they will look at the vampires closely, even if the disciplines are larger. When they know the card texts, they mostly know the (important) disciplines. (Note: I find it amazing how easy it is for a CCG player to learn all the cards/pictures/effects) Maybe a better idea would have been to give every discipline a defined place on the left and leaving it grey/hazy if the vampire does not have that discipline (and printed as normal, if the vampire possesses the discipline). So it could roughly be recognized from more than a meter away. I know this idea is next to impossible to realize, because of the many disciplines in VTES, just a thought. I am especially not liking the change of background colours of the vampires. That was needless. Considering the "3"-thread: I think it is an elegant way not to overpower the Camarilla. Great simplified NRA rules. ALL IN ALL: So far nice ideas, bad layout. Just thought to let you all know. To LSJ: Did you decide to alter Concealed Weapon because "weapon employment by using an action'" is too slow in a tournament environment to be successful? I always thought about using weapons in tournaments that way and am quite interested to see how this change turns out. Simon

There were a multitude of factors, designer intent (the original designer, not me) being one of the major ones. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. Quite interesting to hear, that the original designer intent wasn´t met with the old card. Are there more cards that did not come to function the way the original designer meant it to? Simon

[ quoted text not captured ] That was the major/obvious one. The other main one (Blood Rage) was corrected in the 1995 printing. [ quoted text not captured ]

In Jyhad, it was supposed to be a down-powered, undisciplined Disguised Weapon (but got printed with Obfuscate by accident). For most practical purposes, this wasn't the case - the number of cards it didn't actually work on was small, the number of cards it didn't work on you wanted to play even smaller. (Few people use(d) Bomb, for instance.) In current re-writes, it has to take into account cards that were published in a (effectively, because there was no point in using it) Concealed Weaponless world. Thus changes may be needed, in order to balance it when re-introducing it *now*. -- James Coupe PGP 0x5D623D5D I am woman. Here, me raw. EBD690ECD7A1FB457CA2 13D7E668C3695D623D5D
