I mentioned this earlier and other people seem to have touched upon but I thought I'd start a thread, hopefully getting some input from LSJ. It SEEMS to me, at least that a lot (many) of these new changes have a common theme; that of speeding up the game. It's been discussed how 2nd, 5th, majesty, etc. are certainly not *broken* cards, just really good, staple cards that you see in tons and tons of winning decks. So my theory is starts this way. LSJ and co. didn't HAVE to change 2nd, 5th, etc. The game wasn't being ruined by those cards. He knew also that some people would hate it and some would like the changes and it would create yet more card migrations. so why bother? that's what i asked myself and the answer seems to be to speed up the game. Looking at the changes, blood on vampires is going to be sooo precious. Combat will be even deadlier. 15-20 or so combat cards will decimate your prey. Most of these changes weaken defense, making the game faster. Which fits with trying to entice new players. It's hard enough to get enough players for jyhad due to the multiplayer requirement, but then games take 1-2 hours makes it a serious rather than casual commitment of time usually. A faster game without sacrificing strategy i think would be a good thing. Am I way out in left field, LSJ? Peter Muto VEKN Prince of Toronto

Stay tuned to the web page for more official information as it is officially released. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. [ quoted text not captured ] HI Peter, still rumors as far as card changes :), but even IF they changed these what I am wondering is how it will speed things up if you tie up the Min\Fith combo but allow a vamp to Hunt as many times as he wants to?? this does not speed the game up, but hey mabe I missing something :) Whic is open to alot more vamps that the fith combo anyway. I was wondering more that 30% roughly of Bloodline Vamps have Fortitude mabe this new rule combined with the fact that freaks are now Uncommons(Sweet! I have 20 already but hey could always use more :P) this may help some of the Bloodline clans out?? Errol

I don't think they're broken cards but, given experience, they probably shouldn't have been created the way they were. On balance, they're probably overpowered. It's just a question of whether it's now a good idea to back up and correct the problem at this point. Changing cards has costs: confusion, older cards that exist which don't work as printed, people getting used to playing the game one way and then having to get used to something different, endless fear and loathing on the net, probably other costs as well. I would never call them "staple" cards, as the restriction to Camarilla Princes and Justicars prevents them from being used in many different kinds of decks. A Blood Doll is a staple card. A Wake is a staple card. A Tradition is a specialized card. > So my theory is starts this way. Agree with them or not, the rumored changes would not be unprecedented. So it's seems highly speculative to look for some kind of overall motivation behind the madness - other than the desire to smooth out the peaks and valleys of overpowered and underpowered cards in the mix.
