Card - Clan Impersonation
Question - If a titled vamp successfully plays a Clan Impersonation and
becomes a member of a different clan, do they lose the title? Do they
lose the title only if they would contest with another vampire? i.e.
Leandro plays CI to become Ventrue while Arika is in play.
What about titled vampires playing CI and going from Camarilla to Sabbat
and vice versa? What happens to the title?
Thanks in advance for the clarification.

The answers to your queries are found in section 10 of the rules:
If a vampire with a title changes clans or sects (by means of Clan
Impersonation, for example) to a clan or sect inappropriate for his title,
he loses the benefit of the title until his clan or sect changes
appropriately. If he receives a new title, or if his title is contested
(see Contested Titles, sec. 4.2), he immediately yields the old title.
Note: IC titles are *not* clan-based, they are just sect-based, so
Leandro would still have the title "IC" if he impersonates a Ventrue.

So what`s the clan-based titles ? Justicar in Camarilla ?
What about Sabbat Titles ?
Thanks
Remy

Only the title of Justicar is clan-based in the CCG, as indicated in
section 10 of the rules. In the CCG, unlike in the RPG, the titles
of IC, Priscus, and Primogen are not clan-based.

Woops, sorry. That's what I get for using these free Web goodies.
Thanks for the answer.

?? I'm fairly familiar with the RPG and I didn't think IC or Primogen were
clan-based. Technically, the Prince gets to choose the Primogen and can choose
whoever they want regardless of clan (there have even been non-Camarilla
Setites for Primogen!). And the IC is much more complicated than the simple
"each clan gets one IC" that seems to exist in VTES. IC is more or less a title
for any powerful elder (there are like 40+ members) and thus there can be
multiple IC members of the same clan. I don't know too much about the Sabbat so
I can't say anything for Priscus though.

Actually, I would be surprised if IC is *not* clan-based, as the IC chooses
the Justicars, and if one clan was over-represented, then the others would get
all pissy. Or whatever the vampiric equivalent is. I admit that I can't
remember off the top of my head, though. The Camarilla sourcebook indicates
that "It is known that [the IC] are supposedly 'the eldest' of their clans,
but that definition is open to debate." It lists no numbers or clan-quota.

Hmm. I think primogen depend on how you read the rules. In most of the
sourcebooks, it indicates that the primogen are simply a council of the most
powerful vampires in the city, and makes no mention of clan. However, the way
most people play the RPG is that it is a council of the most powerful vampire
from each clan in the city. (Most powerful being taken to mean in a political
sense...) Also, the LARP version supports this, and the 3rd edition rules
state that "each clan usually has at least one representative primogen."
Then, the primogen support the prince (or manipulate him), and the prince
doesn't exactly select the primogen. He may or may not have a say in who is
included on the council...and he should be able to take any one of them on in
any arena, but if they stand against, him, he will generally lose. I do
believe you are in error, though, stating that the prince selects the
primogen.

My understanding of the Sabbat suggests that Priscus is not clan-affiliated.
Not to mention, if the Sascha Vykos appears as on the warghoul site, that
would make 2 (or 3?) Tzimisce Prisci.
Whee.

2nd edition, certainly, generally implied that each clan had an Inner
Circle member who selected the Justicar on the Inner Circle council type
affair. At least, how I read it. My copy is at home so I can't cite.

In a number of cities, giving one to each of the major clans there is
generally good. It is rare, in my experience, to see two Ventrue Primogen
on a council, for example.

I know. I can see why it was done in V:TEs, but I do like the fact that
you can have weird clans as Primogen.
