I have a question about cards you opponent has which state something like: Any minion can attempt to burn this card as a (D) action, or on a card like Powerbase Chicago: Your opponents minion can attempt to steal all blood on card as a (D) action. We decided this must mean that as my minions action I can use the statement on that card for my action and if unblocked, either burn that location or steal the blood ( or whatever, depending on text. ) But Another thought occurred that this might mean you need a card with a (D) action, where you wouldn't perform the (D) action on the card, but use it as described above. We were thinking the first solution was the correct one, but it is better to ask and get it straight. Thanks, Stephan

The card that you want to burn/steal from is what's providing the directed action; you don't have to, and can't, use another action card to go over and romp on that location. Similarly, if a card says it can be burned with a vote, you don't need a political action card to call that vote; the card to be burned is what provides you with that action. Before I could do anything to stop it, cleaves@ctron.com wrote: > We decided this must mean that as my minions action I can use the statement on > that card for my action and if unblocked, either burn that location or steal > the blood ( or whatever, depending on text. ) But Another thought occurred > that this might mean you need a card with a (D) action, where you wouldn't > perform the (D) action on the card, but use it as described above. I think a good way to think of (D) actions has more to with who can block them than with who can take them. Any minion can take a directed action. Bleeding is a directed action that requires no card, burning a Power Base is a directed action that uses the Power Base itself as the card. The key is that *only* the methuselah affected by the directed action can block it. This is as opposed to a non-directed action like acquiring equipment, calling a vote, etc., which can be blocked first by the prey, then by the predator, but no one else. Some people in my circle are argueing that Army of Rats cannot be burned without a card with a (D) on it because it says "with a (D) action" instead of "as a (D) action." I suppose the owner of the rats is the affected Methuselah, who can attempt to block to keep them in play. -- There be that can pack the cards and yet cannot play | a-Henh! well; so there are some that are good in canvasses and | Brian Wilson factions, that are otherwise weak men. | Francis Bacon |

Since the controller of Army of Rats never changes, its owner is the one who blocks (or doesn't). For a location that changes controllers, like The Rack, it might be someone other than the owner defending it.
