Hi, A has a Meat Hook and strikes with it. When is the check for the optional press made - Is it a/ after strike declaration ? b/ after strike resolution ? c/ during the press step ? This matters for cases where the opposing vampire burns the Meat Hook Thanks, Pascal. ~~ Meat Hook Cardtype: Equipment Melee weapon. Strike: strength+1 damage, only usable once each round. Once each combat, if this weapon is used to strike at close range and the opponent doesn't dodge the strike, the bearer gets an optional press this round, only usable to continue combat. At close range, a vampire with Potence [pot] may destroy this weapon as a strike with first strike that costs 1 blood.

Minion A has a Meat Hook and uses it in combat against Minion B. Minion A prevents damage with Indomitability. Since he has a press with Indomitability he would prefer to save the Meat Hook press for a later round. But the Meat Hook provides the press automatically so he can't save it. Is that right?

It provides an optional press "this round", right.

If someone strikes to destroy the weapon with first strike and is successful, I'm confused about why the former bearer of the hook gets a press. For example- Minion A: Strike with hook Minion B: Strike to destroy hook w/first strike Resolution Minion B: First strike resolves before regular strikes, so the weapon burns. Minion A: Would hit minion B with hook, but the hook is gone. No strike? Re-choose strike? I suspect I'm wrong about one or more parts of this, please release me from my ignorance ;) Brandon

My understanding of LSJ's answer is that he's given the optional press after strike declaration, and before strike resolution. The "check" I was talking about is the "If the opposing minion doesn't dodge the strike" part. After strike declaration, the weapon is used, but since we're not yet at strike resolution, it is still in play. > For example- > Minion A: Strike with hook > Minion B: Strike to destroy hook w/first strike > > Resolution > Minion B: First strike resolves before regular strikes, so the weapon > burns. > Minion A: Would hit minion B with hook, but the hook is gone. [ quoted text not captured ] If the meat hook gets Fast Hands, does the other minion get a press now? Even though that minion didn't use the Hook, the other minion did and I think the wording implies that Yes he gets a press.

B: strike Fast Hands, stealing Meat Hook (not at first strike) resolve: Meat Hook and Fast Hands resolve simultaneously. A gains a press, B gains a Meat Hook and some damage.

[ quoted text not captured ] Isn't Fast Hands with First Strike?

floppyzedolfin

[ quoted text not captured ] Not when it's not a First Strike :-)
