A fast seating method

I developed a fast method registering players and seating at high- attendance tournaments (it has been successfully tested at the EuroDraft 2008 and at the French Draft Championship 2009) PREPARATIONS: 1 - Set the tables. Each table represents a clan: Example: Table 1 - Assamite Table 2 - Brujah ... Table 12 - !Ventrue (I recommend you use alphabetical order, so that players can easily find their table) The number of tables to be set should be equal to the maximum expected players. (Example: If you expect between 50 and 80 players, you should prepare 16 tables) 2 - Choose 5 vampires per clan (one 10-cap, one 9-cap, ... , one 6- cap), and place them on the clan's table, the 10-cap vampire bleeding the 9-cap, and so on. 3 - Prepare the Archon, using the chosen vampires, sorted by clan and by table: Player 1 is 10-cap vampire at table 1 Player 2 is 9-cap vampire at table 1 Player 3 is 8-cap vampire at table 1 Player 4 is 7-cap vampire at table 1 Player 5 is 6-cap vampire at table 1 Player 6 is 10-cap vampire at table 2 ... 4 - Place the score sheet (GWs, VPs) on each table, filled in the the vampires' names (Thetmes, ...), and leaving blank fields for the players' First Name, Last Name, VEKN number (nickname, e-mail, and any other optional stuff) 5 - Prepare a deck of copies of the vampires on the tables (that means you need a pair of each used vampire) ON D-DAY: Instead of separately asking each player their name, VEKN Number, write all down in the Excel file, cast a dice, and sort the players in the Archon, ... You'll just have to collect the fee, and have each player draw a card from the copies deck. The player then knows where to seat on round 1. DURING ROUND 1 The organiser collects the score sheets one by one and replaces the names of the vampires by those of the corresponding players, and checks (if it's a qualification required tournament) if all the players have qualified (any problem should be corrected later). Play Rounds 2 and 3 as usual. Philippe Lang, aka Reverend Blackwood French National Coordinator Sabbat In France team Any comments?

Each table represents a clan: Instead of crypt cards (while being cool, add an extra unneeded layer of complexity), simply have them choose random index cards, which states both the table number and their position at the table. This way, you can also break up last minute people and put a new table together quickly.

[ quoted text not captured ] Long as I can get smudge, it is all cool. If you are the Smudge of a table, everyone is ignoring, which means your devious plan is unseen. Mwuhahahahahaa. Nah, seriously, cool idea! Why not go for best of both worlds, print pics of vamps as seat cards, with table number and position printed on card...

As someone noticed, one could abuse of knowing his table number. You know that the Archon runs groups of 25 players (well, that's a big approximation). If someone manages to know in which group he is (say table 2), he could be tempted to try to get some information about players on tables 1, 3, 4 and 5. A little chat with a few people, and he would know the deck of each of his future opponents. I realize I forgot to mention we printed tablecloths with the Clan icon on them. Each table gets its tablecloth, and when you pick Matata, all you have to do is look for the table with the Spider printed on it. Ex. Ha! Good one. 1) Organizers are free to mislabel table numbers (i.e., use different table numbers than the ones given in the Archon: 1=>2 2=>7 3=>12 4=>1 5=>9 and so on). 2) It would take more than a little chatting with more than a few people to even get a vague idea of each of his eight future opponents' decks. Even less about those future opponents who were ousted early in their rounds. 3) Even if he did, such efforts provide only a tiny benefit (not rising to the level of abuse). It's not like he can choose his seat based on such information.
